Same Lee, Wrong car. He has two.
The car he crashed was his twin turbo car at over 297 mph.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Lee. Get better soon.

4 of us went to the hospital tonight to visit Lee and Jan.
Lee is banged up, bruised and black and blue on several parts of his body. It is painful for him to talk with the broken ribs. He is in good spirits and it looks like he is on the road to recovery.
It was nice to chat with him for a bit.

Monte;

Did Lee say what happened to cause the crash?

From the tire marks on the course, it was obvious the car got sideways. We all know what happens after that.
However, Lee did say he hit something. He stated that he felt it hit the front air dam and then he felt it hit the floor pan. It felt to him that the right front tire went down.
We will go back and look at photos to see what we can determine.

  Looking at the front air dam on the #97 car shown in Dyno Mikes post, I think given the condition of the Salt that it is possible that a piece of the air dam may have broken off (or been sheared off) causing a tire to shred.  Ground clearance of Air Dam's on shorter wheelbase vehicles (especially those with front suspension) is  something that all of us need to consider in the future depending on the Salt's condition at the time.
  Get well Lee, it sounds like You have a spare race car awaiting You!

Just got off the phone with him... he is recovering but still very sore... they had to plate n screw the ribs to get them in place to heal.  The cracked hip/pelvis hurts and he can't put weight on it... that will take time... nothing they can do be let it heal.  He was headed to the doc today.... said they seem to find something else every time he sees one....  :?  I told him that's because he's old... he said it still hurt to laugh...  :laugh:
All in all seems to be on the slow road to recovery.... and thinking about how he would build the car again....
He said Monte belted him in so tight it hurt... he credits that to keeping him alive... and will never bitch about that again.
:cheers:

Thanks for the update, Stainless, I (and probably a bunch of others) have been checking regular to see if anything showed up, because as we all know , ANY crash is not a good crash! Glad to get the update indicating he is on the slooooow road to recovery, not a speed most of us are familar with  :-D ! And I agree with Lee, the first time Monty belted me in , I thought I would pass out from lack of air, but as Lee and most of us know , that's Monty's way of making SURE we are as safe as can be expected and as always a BIG thank-you to him and all the great folks that make WOS possible! Best during your recovery Lee and hopefully Rob is going to get on that road soon! Happy Holidays all!   :cheers: :cheers:
