Title: Directions to El Mirage First timer helper
Post by: Hemi Joel on April 22, 2021, 08:38:52 PM
Hi, I am going to the May 1-2 El Mirage race to spectate, and if anyone needs any help or a crew member I am available. I am zero maintenance, I'm going to gain experience for when my own car is ready.
I'm staying in Victorville, arriving Thursday afternoon. I google mapped directions, but I have no way of knowing if this brings me to the right place. The link below should open a map. Can someone familiar with the area please check it for me and make sure it is right?

Thanks, Joel  email hemi67gtx at yahoo.com

Take Sheep Creek road like it says but when you reach El Mirage road turn right instead of left. You'll go just a mile or two and see the entrance on your left.

It will be faster for you to go up the 395 to Adalanto and come in from the east side.

I hate to disagree with my friend Elmo, but you don't need to go to Phelan and Sheep Creek Road.  He's coming from Victorville.  Just find the east-west El Mirage Rd. out of Adelanto to the West and just head westerly until you see the big El Mirage-SCTA sign and turn in.  If you can't decide whether to turn left or right (correct), you shouldn't be driving.

Just a note on Phelan.  The have a nice high school there. I think it's called Kennedy High School.  Somehow they didn't name it "Phelan High".  Nor did they build a college named "Phelan U".

If you sit at the ranger station and wait for a landspeed car on a trailer to go by you can just follow them to the race course. That is the hardest part to find the first time out.
