Title: MGT BMGT rules questions
Post by: Coothethird on April 01, 2025, 09:02:10 AM
Hello,

Just wanted to clarify a few questions I had while going back over the rule book.

Question 1:

Are full belly pans allowed in MGT BMGT? The book specifically lists: (4.CC.1) (4.CC.7) (4.CC.8) (4.CC.9). It lists "The addition of a belly pan" in the earlier part of the section, but it isn't listed in the permitted items:
"
Blocking the airflow through the radiator in front or behind is
not allowed.
No streamlining, as described in Section 4.CC, is allowed,
unless specified. Wheel wells may not be filled or covered.
Wheel well openings may be radiused for tire clearance. No
taped or filled body, door or window seams are allowed.
Windows shall be mounted in the stock fashion or fastened
to the inside of the window openings. Minor chrome trim,
mirrors and emblems may be removed.
The following items are permitted: Air Dams and Splitters
(4.CC.1). Skirts (4.CC.7) A non stock Spoiler (4.CC.8) Strakes
(4.CC.9).
"

Question 2:

What is considered blocking the radiator? Does a physically larger engine count as blocking?

Question 3:

Can the factory windshield and rear glass be used if it is retained by straps?

Question 4:

Is the location of a turbocharger limited? Can it be placed where the passenger seat was?

Thanks! I am sure there will be other questions!

Question 1:

Answer 1:  One of these modifications shall be done to considered for MGT
Addition of Belly Pan... so yes they are legal

Question 2:

What is considered blocking the radiator? Does a physically larger engine count as blocking?

Answer 2: Blocking in front of behind a radiator is blocking the radiator... this is blocking the opening... a larger motor is not blocking .

Question 3:

Can the factory windshield and rear glass be used if it is retained by straps?

Answer 3:  Reread 3.U what type of glass is it? And then the answer is it must be retained if over 175 mph record

Question 4:

Is the location of a turbocharger limited? Can it be placed where the passenger seat was?

Answer 4: The location of exhaust components and blowers is not restricted... however it might require a firewall to isolate it from the driver....

Consult the tech chair for official answers that are binding... get it in writing...

Disclaimer... haven't run a door car in GT since 1980, MGT wasn't a class then... My answers are what I see in the book, not an SCTA inspector, just a racer...
