Sid's car is number 650. Check the results pages on the SCTA site. Anyway, he had problems with the tune as I understand it.

Fairly sure he isn't listed as making a run on the long course.  Not checked the other(s).

I believe he turned out before the lights, hence nothing in the results.

I made a pass but the engine wouldn't respond to throttle just like last year at the T&T so it wouldn't go fast enough to get on top of the lumpy salt. Crashing through the potholes was brutal. I'm a carb, Hilborn, mag & distributor guy, this electronic crap is foreign to me so I have to rely on somebody else & I hate it. :x My new oil pump was configured wrong so I had to take the turbos off because it was blowing oil through them. A shift solenoid blew out on one B&J so I had to direct connect low range only. The salt was so bad the jack was sinking into it & I was worried the whole mess would fall over.
The cons out weighed the pros so I called it.
There is 1/4" of salt crust on top of the brine dirt, that's the worst I've ever seen. Is this the end??

G'Day Sid...........Dennis, the Pokey Biker here........I'm with you regarding going from carbs and points to electronics.........I walked a lot of salt while watching from the start lines.......I observed WAY too many cars and a few bikes fish-tailing in the first 1/4-mi............at today's speeds, MAYBE the timing lights should be moved further down the courses??..........and, yes, as the sun went past noon, the moisture in the brine was rising to the thin salt cover.

I will attempt to get my programable ignition working for next year...........hoping you will do the same :-)

Sorry to hear about your gremlins. Will you try again this year, or do you think the salt needs a winter season to show any real improvement?

The salt can't get any better this year so I'm not wasting what little time & money I have on it.
I wouldn't make any speed & I turned out at the 3.
