Title: CAD programs and sourse for laser cut parts with tabs
Post by: SPARKY on October 20, 2025, 07:43:24 AM
off You Tube I notice more and more people are using software packages to design and then order laser cut parts with tabs.  I have several things I need to fabricate that are fairly simple and was looking to try this  any help or suggestions  thanks in advance Sparky

Disclaimer:  Not a racer and have never precision cut anything metal in my 66 years.  Wood, yes.  Metal, no.

You have probably seen SuperFastMatt's videos and his mention of his frequent use of Send Cut Send.

Not sure what he designs with but if you asked him he might answer.  The SCS website has tutorials for exporting files from AutoCAD, Autodesk, and SolidWorks.   Having tried to learn SketchUp (my son works on the product) I can fairly say the learning curve is steep but these tools are powerful.

Hope that was useful.

Tim

SuperFastMatt uses Fusion 360.   Fusion 360 has a limited "free" version for non commercial use.  SendCutSend, Xometry, Protolabs, Fictiv, and OSH Cut can provide laser cut parts with tabs.   Some offer other services also including finishing, plating, and CNC parts.
