Hey everyone,
My name is Angel, and I'm excited to finally join the forum. I've been involved in track and hill climb events for a while, and now I?m setting my sights on the Bonneville Salt Flats for the World of Speed 2026. My goal is to run in the 130 MPH Club.
I'll be bringing my Ford Festiva, which currently makes 148 wheel horsepower with a naturally aspirated Mazda BP engine.
The car is setup is primarily for road racing, time attack, and hill climb lightweight at about 1970 lbs, FWD, and on Yokohama A052s. I plan to make a few aerodynamic tweaks and ensure it's safe and compliant for the 130 Club rules.
This will be my first time on the salt, so I'm here to learn from you all about tech inspection requirements, aero/traction challenges on salt, and what to expect for a first-timer.
Looking forward to sharing progress and meeting some of you at Bonneville next year!
See you on the salt! Best wishes.
Welcome to the gateway drug to LSR...
The 130 Club is not easy, even if you have a 140MPH car... salt is traction limited. But all you need to do is go to the USFRA website, look for the rules and comply with a very easy set of rules....

Remember you are doing this for fun... be safe and go fast... just not too fast...

Thank you for the welcoming
Please enlighten me on what makes not an easy task. I understand the traction issue on the salt but what are challenges that are normally encountered. I know this is for fun but I would like to give it all in trying to joint that 130 club.
The parts that make it not that easy are 50-60% of the traction on pavement, the uneven and now often rutted surface of the first mile.

You will get to use some of the adrenalin in your body.... I have been 246 in my lakester, crashed our streamliner at 250 but my first 130 club run at the last WoS scared the $hit out of me.... I was in a 145+MPH Mini, it felt like it was all over the track, I did 127. You have to accelerate hard without spinning your wheels for a mile.... It was a blast.
Have fun
That sounds wild! I can only imagine how different it must feel compared to pavement. I'm used to road racing and hill climbs, so it'll definitely be a new experience trying to keep the car hooked up for that long. I'm really looking forward to the challenge and the atmosphere out there.
New header design. Hopefully this will make more top end and keep my mid power. Also taller 5th gear with be going in. Then to the Dyno and retune.
