News came to me yesterday about a crash that injured the driver. He's in the hospital now, and for a while things were looking bad, but last night when family dropped by to say "good night," he responded with a thumbs-up.
The driver was Dave Brant (D3), grandson of the guy who built this: https://youtu.be/xpaEwmdb9qI?si=t6gd_h-airCkN9yO
John, who was in the video, is keeping in touch with the family. He knows nothing about the crash itself except that the only part of the car still intact was the cage that protected the driver.
Does anyone here know anything?
Mike
Talking to people, I understand the Bonneville folks don't like to talk much about incidents like this. I understand. I'll just end this by saying that the latest news is the driver's condition is improving; he's talking; but a long recovery is expected.
I don't know Dave but it's good to hear he's getting better. I believe we should actually be talking about crashes to be able to learn from them & if SCTA & USFRA investigate them the knowledge from that should be shared. Vehicles can pass tech & class requirements & be good to go but have bad decisions built in. I say this not knowing if this crash was car related or course related but if there is no dialogue there is no learning.
Sid.
I agree.
Updates on David's condition by his wife. Some great news on his recovery.

Because the outside world ALWAYS gets it wrong, ALWAYS inflates the story to serve their agenda (which is not racing), and ALWAYS lies about the facts. The outside world ALWAYS misunderstands, because they don't want to understand. Therefore - they must be denied any news of the sport (even good news), because they ALWAYS fuck it up.
Just look at what happens INSIDE the racing community. Better to keep the damage to a minimum.
