Last chance to make runs for 2026. World Finals.
Who's going ?
That is my plan. :run: No car, of course.
Wayno
See you there. Were you able to sell the car?
I believe someone was asking about awhile ago.
Not yet. Was hoping to talk with some people this weekend. Been kinda sideetracked. :run: :run:
SCTA dragging their feet. Make a damn choice.
Well it looks like the SCTA is moving forward working the track to get it dried out.
I will not be there with the Bockscar... but I will arrive Saturday to pick up our chase car and go to the races to help friends if they need it.
I have a pre-entry to sell if anyone needs one... if not I will sell it back to the SCTA
We were ready to go with the liner but when I saw that storm roll over the salt I pulled the plug here. A few hours later it rolled through here with thunder hail & heavy rain. There was a time when the salt crust was thicker that this wouldn't be an issue but those days are long gone at Bonneville. 1/2" at best of wet salt crust on wet brine dirt is never going to dry out enough in a few days at this time of the year to be worth a-F to run on. It will be messy at best & probably dangerous. Today we pumped the fuel out of the engine & winterized it. I feel bad for my crew who had made time in their busy schedules to come out & bust their asses for me & my crazy dream liner that was finally ready to feel some big numbers. I hope you know just how much I appreciate you guys, I couldn't do this without you.
Sid.
Rolled in here about 8pm. Saw some storm clouds fading away on the way in. Smells/ looks like it just rained. Bend in the road, flat's area looks dry but slicker than snot, had to 4wd my butt back to the road. Camping at the fork for now.
Update...... The water has moved to the starting line and access road. Most have turned around. They put it on hold for a bit.
Racing will start tomorrow at Bonneville.
Good luck to all that run.

otherwise......no comment :dhorse:
I really enjoyed the way they put us on the Salt. Much better than driving through the water at the end of the road and beyond.

Production Supercharged is the class, so what kind of car was it. An old Turbo Corvair running on two cylinders, or a old Oldsmobile Cutlass Turbo 215 running on two cylinders? Even one of those would go faster than that. Was the supercharger checked to make sure it was connected and putting out some boost? I am scratching my head, as this seems pretty improbable, if not impossible to do. 45 cubic inch motor with a supercharger or turbo charger, if it only put out one HP per Cubic inch it would be 45 HP and 36 HP VW bugs went over 60 mph without a supercharger.

It was done intentionally. The car was running in a class with no current record. The owner had two objectives. 1) Set the slowest record ever at Bonneville. 2) To put the car up for sale to entice someone to buy it to get his record.
Yes, the car can go faster.
The car is some sort of Mitsubishi? that is only available in New Zeeland or some such thing.
It's on Ken Coe's Facebook page.

A novelty then. That plays.
here this Push by Single racer...
this "car" started originally as a very cheap mass production car in India by Tata...
it was very simple and not very safety...but for the slow traffic in the cities in India
maybe good enough...albeit, this car was anything but not slow....
Mitsubishi used the design, strength the body in white to get it closer to the safety requirements
in parts of the world...never good enough for Europe....
and sold them especially in the Third World as a cheap transportiation vehicle...
I'm very surprised to read that Official didn't had a problem that he likes to go for the slowest record...when Scott Guthrie tried a long time ago, with a sidecar bike, to beat the slowest record by a French motorcycle...they gave him a hard time...the class which Scott run was also a open record...
Very funny. But it took a lot of effort to do that. Any speed on an open record is a record, no? It shouldn't be subject to a 'hard time' by anyone.
Wonder what the 2 1/4 speed was...
Tim, Keyboard Racer
Slowest record
Whatever, I guess...
You pay your money - You get your record.
A girl set a 17 mph AMA record this year at BMST on a 50 cc. minibike.

Mike,
Thanks for the clarification on the intent of the Three Schmucks Racing entry.(That was on the entry)
Honestly they only achieved the goal of the slowest record run until someone wants to go lower in another class without a minimum. A marketing gimmick, for sure. According to the internet the car is capable of about 86 mph without a governor connected.
My understanding is the car is capable of 69mph. pretty sure anyone can buy this cheap and go set some records. They didn't want to go max the record out because they wanted the next owner to have that pleasure. It is not street legal in the USA. Has a very nice cage in it. See Ken Coe SDRC Prez if you are interrested in it.
The good news is that El Mirage records do not have to worry about this being done. They have minimums. The minimum for a J/PS is 80 mph.
The Bad news is that if someone buys this vehicle and decides that going low for BNI records is their agenda. Maybe having bragging rites for having the most number of slow records? Or selling rides for records in the rule book. They could spend years running that vehicle and breaking the existing record by one or two mph. All it takes is to have a stopwatch with you and slow down to a crawl before you break the timing light entering the two and time yourself to the next timing light. For example, you want to go 10 mph, you would take 6 minutes to go the mile, 10.5 mph you would take 5:43 to go the mile. Once for qualifying, and once for the record run. The precedent has been set. :dhorse: :dhorse: :dhorse: :dhorse:
Guys, this isn't the first time someone tried to set the slowest record in the book... I think a bike racer did it with a 14-15 several years ago... it's a cult thing.... "I set a record at Bonneville, the slowest ever"... Yes those guys were having a blast.... his qualifying run he went too fast... they were shooting for a single digit but he said the car idled at nearly 15... his partner said kick it to neutral... Yes they were just having fun... and put the slowest record in the book...
They did wait till the end of record runs to do the 7 MPH back up... and didn't run to the 3
