Anyone know the hours of Tech at El Mirage this Friday 11/09? Thanks!
Scott,
They should be open around 11:00 and stop around 4:00
See you there.
Good luck!
J
Thanks John!
just remember guys that the top 25 starting posisitions can not tech on race morning.... so you guys need to be teched on friday.... c ya there
kent
"Around" is the operative word. Tom has to get the trailer and haul it out. Show up a little before 11 and help him set up and you can get teched first.
4:00 depends on if there is anybody still left to tech. I got there at 3:30 once and nobody was around. Had to tech the next morning.
Course walk in November is at 4:00, not 5:00, so they might close up early.
That is good to know Kent. I am tied for 25th in points with a start number of 26. I would have not wanted to find out that bit of info on Sat. morning.
What time does #1 usually pushoff in the morning?
Start time depends on where the sun is in the morning. It's usually pretty low and I would say 8 t- 8:30 am. If there is hanging dust it also slows the meet down.
The average per run from September and May (the only months the average was listed) was 2:40.
Looks like you run 66 minutes after the first run.
Don't sue me if you miss your run, but this is kinda what it would come out to be. Averages being what they are, don't forget spins, dust, lost parts . . .

Past 100? Have breakfast, take a nap, polish the necker knob . . . You get the idea.
Rookie question! :-D What's the usual procedure for the rookie line??? :?
Let's do it in the dirt! :-D
!!!!!!..larry... you finally gonna bring that tractor out and race it.?.... are we gonna see if you or scott has the fastest NHRS motor..?...... :-D
kent
i just did mine in may 07 so its still kinda fresh - get in line anytime you want (early is better) the starter will let the first 25 run --be ready as soon as you get in line--just relax and enjoy and take it all in --when its your turn the starter will check your safety eqp. and ask you a question (something you learned in rookie orientation so pay close attention) make a safe pass but above have fun williebuchta
!!!!! Yeah Kent, I just got the 3 point hitch bolted up... I think I'm gonna go with the terracing blade instead of the disc harrow!!!

Don't forget about the 200mph line. If your in it you may go sooner.
QuoteRookie question! What's the usual procedure for the rookie line???
Rookie Answer! Rookie orientation pretty much will explain it all to you. Just like the other lines, but shorter. You can line up in the rookie line at any time. After the first 25 in points run, the starter, at his discretion, will start running from the rookie line. Your first run is under the microscope. You AND your crew will be observed. If your crew speeds down picking you up, expect a long conversation that you don't want. If your crew can go through rookie orientation that would be better. Don't forget to fill in your crew about where you might turn out if you have a problem, left or right. Drive the crew down and show them the shut off area so they know where the heck to pick you up.
Once they start running from the rookie line, every fourth vehicle will be from there. That's roughly 8 minutes. If you are three back you have about 24 minutes, but at three back you better be ready to RUN. If you hold up the line it is frowned on.
First pass has to be under 150. Between 125 and 150 gets you your "D" license. If you are a fraction over, no problem. If you are a lot over BIG problem. If you have a chute you have to use it. A high dose of caution is expected no matter what your credentials. Shut off in the lights. If you are under power past the finish then they figure you didn't listen very well. You will drive down to the finish on Friday during rookie orientation to get a good look at it. After the run and your heart gets down below 10,000 beats a minute, drift over to the starting line trailer and pickup your timing slip. If it meets licensing requirements, see DW for your license.
QuoteFailure to comply with the requirements of the Rookie Orientation process shall cause the rookie to be banned from making further runs at that event and require going back through the rookie orientation and successful completion of the rookie requirements again before being allowed to continue to compete at future El Mirage events.
If you haven't seen that line, then read the El Mirage procedures:
http://www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/El%20Mirage/ELM%2007/El%20Mirage%20Procedures%2007.pdf (http://www.scta-bni.org/SCTA-NewWeb/El%20Mirage/ELM%2007/El%20Mirage%20Procedures%2007.pdf)
You can run from the rookie line both days to upgrade your license. You can't make a second run until all vehicles have had a chance to run once. Once the second round has started you can line up at any time. No records from the rookie line. If you have made the first pass from the rookie line and want to try for a record, assuming your license requirements have been met, you have to line up according to your line up number, meaning dead last in lane #2 or #3 for your second run. There is an official at the end of the lines to help. Being at the end of the line for a second run frequently means the wind blows out the event before you can run, so don't be surprised.
Relax, chill. Take your time, ask questions. If you have ANY kind of problem ask for help, there will be a bunch of instant friends at your service.
Thank you Dean. That was more of the answer I was looking for. I've been to Speed Week and Bub this year but I didn't want to start off on the wrong foot here..
I'll be at the rookie meeting Fri. but this just gives me an idea what to expect.
By the way, I look forward to meeting you and cashin an eye on your scoot while I'm therre.
Larry #591 144.684 , I look to best that by quite a bit by this time next year...After all, my only competition is Big Scott....... lmao
The best to all and a safe meet...
For what it's worth:
I got an email from Tom Evans about 45 minutes ago, and he said "I'm on my way to EM...". Since he sent the email one can assume that he hadn't left his place yet. But he implies that he'll be there immediately upon his arrival, so now you know when he'll be there.
I hope that answers your question - about when Tech opens.

There are no points or records for beating me.........and please remember that if you do go faster than me people will say you are a scrawny little bastard and should of went faster anyway! Now here is where it is a no win situation for you, if "Big Scott" goes faster than you, you will be mocked for getting beat by someone twice your size!
So in my view you lose either way...........
Scott
Thanks S.S.S.,
I will be heading that way soon. We rec'd a small amount of rain last night here by the dragstrip @ Pomona. Temp is in the high 40's this morning.
