Rooms in Wendover

[Aloppen]

It's been a few years since I brought my GM Performance Division team out to the Salt Flats for our Ecotec records.  I now want to bring out my son, who just graduated from high school, and I want him to experience and be come bitten by the salt. I know there are extra rooms around, but I need to ask this forum, as the online bookings are all full.  I am looking for Friday the 10th through Sunday, to experience the Hot Rod gathering in Wendover Friday night, and 2 solid days of the Salt. Can anyone help a brother out?  Thanks!  Al Oppenheiser

Right at the moment, Al, I don't know of any that'll be available - - but keep an eye on this Forum for rooms.  Already we've had postings from a team, for instance, that decided their car won't be ready so they cancelled plans for the trip - and had rooms available.  Lok for the other threads here -- and look at a few of them (SpeedWeek 2012, etc).  We often try to keep all of the requests and avails on one topic/thread so it's easy to point folks like you to one spot.

By the also way -- please clue us in as to where you are.  You didn't fil in the "location" in the Profile registration.  Sometimes there'll be another racer or shop or something nearby that might have advice or help or do work that you need -- or that you, in turn can help.  City & state is enough.  Thanks.

* A couple of minutes later - - here's one from the SpeedWeek 2012 thread:

2 rooms for sale at the Peppermill 8/10-8/14

since you are not planning on being there the whole week you should try to find the casino deals that are aimed at the gamblers as the room rate will be much cheaper.

I appreciate the feedback. I will continue to monitor this site for rooms. Thank You.

Three years in a row I just showed up at the Nugget on Thurs. PM, and kept going thru the check-in line waiting for a cancellation for that night.  Never took more than an hour, and once I had a room, I would call the front desk (from my room) to extend my stay, usually for two or more nights as needed.  No problem, works every time!

Hope this helps.

In 2010 we checked in to the Montego Bay with one room for 7 nights. Reservation was made on line. The desk clerk asked when the people for the other 6 rooms were checking in. She was quite insistant that I had booked 7 rooms, until I asked her why I had only had to pay the deposit on one room. Six rooms became instantly available!
