Anyone going out this weekend to watch the ECTA event ?
I need to get away from the house for awhile and test my new desert gear. 😉

Thought there would be no spectator's ?
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

Thier site says spectators parking on the salt.

I don't expect there to be much support here on this forum as it is not an SCTA event.

I think it's cool that people will get the chance to run their fast street cars on the salt.
The more people interested in racing bonneville, the better chance there might be to protect it.

Checked the camera this morning, the salt looks a bit moist.
Are they running?

Yes.  They are running till 4pm.
Course is south of the "lands end" running right by the end of road.  So nowhere near scta courses.
I like this event.  It's a bit more grassroots than 130club,  streetcar wise.

A black 31 Ford ran 124 , 131 and then back to back 143's . Pretty good for a 350 and 3 speed combo.
Vettes were 188 to 195mph.
High speed of the day is a vette at 213mph.

I hope they come back again.
I'll stay and watch tommorow mornings runs and head home.

Forgot to mention.  No moisture,  salt feels hard and dry.
Technically it's dirt they are on but no dust coming off vehicles.

Edit ::))
Oh there is a few motorcycles here.  One of which is a harley Bagger.  He was in the 160's but traction and wind was a issue .
Cool to see a hoped up big bike though.

To gowing. I thought this is a landspeed  forum, not a SCTA motorcycle forum.

Well,  racing ended about 3pm. Went back to camp and napped for a bit then started hearing a roar of backfiring Hondas and V8's.  This lasted an hour at least.  Just a traffic jam headed to lands end.
Later I had to go to the gas station grab some things and wanted to investigate   .
Meanwhile gas station attendant is trying to get the loitering out of the parking lot.
Apparently there are 3 events scheduled for today at Bonneville.
On scene walking around it's just a big car meet.  Dodge. Porches, vettes,  exotics , 2 helicopters and a horse.  Someone said it was a big photo op. But...... a few dirt bags out there doing doughnuts and str8 runs.  I had enough. 😠
About a 1/2hr ago at least 12 -15 berries lit up lands end. And the traffic jam is now moved out.

Today's racing was great.  31 Ford ran 148.  One of the vettes tried to top yesterday's 213 but only made 199mph.
The bagger bike had a much better day.  1st run was 162, he said the bike felt good,  early shifting and less throttle the next run was 170 and then a 175.
The red car meet his goal at 170mph.
I believe other runs were made about the time I was leaving.
Ford is heading back to Alabama and other states were represented.
My new favorite race.  I hope they return next year.

FYI.  The car meet last night was no way affiliated with the ECTA.  You can thank the BLM for that permit.
