To me it's less about the 6hp gain (I hope to have about 400 more than I need for the record), and more about the simplicity. The factory alternator will not fit in the framerail, so I'd have to run a mini one on a new bracket. Ideally I'll just have a dry sump off a spindle and that'll drive a fuel pump off a cable and anything beyond that'll is extra complexity. You have to have a battery anyway, and you can't easily mix lead and lithium. IMO its easier to just go to one big lithium. Lifepo4 can also charge faster than lead likes to be charged and in theory it'll take noise out of the power supply.

If anything Mike got me thinking I might have capacity to run an efficient electronic fuel pump if I have issues installing my swap meet special mechanical fuel pump.

I run 16V on my 27T dragster with MSD ignition, electric fuel pump fans but I also only run 1/8th of a mile. Going over a mile might be a little different story. You could look at running a small Kabota alternator off of the drive shaft because it tends to use less power than running off of the front of the motor. I know a lot of drag cars are set up that way.

I was tying with this myself. I thin I can run one 12v battery just for ignition and one for the fuel pump and still be lighter than my single battery and alternator b ya wide margin. And...have a much cleaner engine bay.

That will require two master cutoff switches

Sho nuff, still a good deal for me with very limited room.
