Hey Land racing Community,

My name is Clay. In years past, we ran a Geo Metro Hatchback with a snowmobile engine in the I class. The best the car has run to date is 135 MPH on a 142 MPH record.

The last time the car ran was at Speedweek was 2022. Life got in the way, and the car has been sitting in the garage since.

Now, we are ready to get it back on the salt, but we need the right person to round out the team.

What We Are Offering: This is a genuine opportunity to go land speed racing, learn specialized skills, and be an active part of a fun crew.
Fun fact: This is exactly how I came to own and run the car. I showed up to Speedweek in 2002 as a spectator, the owner needed help, I stepped up, and the rest is history.

What We Expect (Read Carefully) We are looking for someone who wants to get their hands dirty in building and maintaining the car throughout the year in preparation for the salt. This role includes, but is not limited to: Learning new fabrication and mechanical processes. Studying and complying with the SCTA rulebook for strict class compliance. Working out a balanced, realistic garage schedule (we do not expect 24/7 work, but we do expect consistency).

This Is NOT For Bucket-Listers: If you just want to show up to Speedweek for the vibes and disappear the other 11 months of the year, please do not waste our time the same with Keyboard Racers.

We are trying to provide a real racing opportunity for someone local to help build something fast learn different skills/techniques, as well as all other aspects of what it takes to plan/attend speed week, etc. If you are ready to put in the work and earn your spot on the salt, let's talk. Contact: Please email me directly at itsthepits5@gmail.com
Thanks for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you,— Clay

I am in no position to help but, it might be helpful to offer up a location. If you're in Logan it might not be a fit for someone in St. George.

It's really tough to find people that will put in the shop time no matter how much car you have but a lot easier to get race-day crew. You & a friend should be able to run that package ok.

I'm certainly not local but...if you need help during the next speed week I can make the time to help at the event for sure. I am looking to develop a bit more experience before I race out there and if you think there is a way I can help, please let me know and I will do what I can to make that happen.

Things I can do from a keyboard:

Cad drawings and 3D printing
Research
Phone calls
Scheduling

Things I can do in Bonneville:

Wrenching of any kind
Grunt work of any kind

Clearly I'm not "The" guy, but I am "A" guy.
