I'm not one to start with an already built car. I am a sucker for an old race car with history . #72 a 27 T modified roadster based on a Speedway Motors track T. The car was originally  built in St Louise Missouri by Jim Restelli and Bob Nelleson . When the car was built the builders were going after the F/GMR record which was 156.058. The original build started in 1993 the car would show up at Bonneville in 2001 and last raced in 2003. Top speed that was achieved on a licensing pass was 147 mph Jim was close to the record. Old #72 and Jim wouldn't return Jim's health failed and the car sat in Jims garage
Awaiting the chance to return to Bonneville.
The car won Outstanding Comp at the world of speed in 2000 was featured in Street Rodder magazine in August of 2000.
Even though the car wasn't much of a legend at Bonneville the car was a bit of a home town legend.
Jim passed this year and his family advertised the car for sale. When I first seen the car my first thought was the car is not competitive to beat the current 215 mph record now. The car is to short to wide in the front not very aerodynamic with the shocks and hair pins and leaf spring suspension sitting in the slip stream the front end sits up high .
The power plant being a Quade 4 a very worthy engine of its time but there are whole lot better options available now. The engine does have some cool hot rod mods Hilborn mechanical injection 12:1 compression Direct fire ignition system custom ground cams custom rods and pistons.
The car is of outstanding build quality the type a fabrication work only someone with skill and passion could achieve.
I originally passed the car up I figured someone would see it and buy it well that wasn't happening.
I contacted the family and made them an offer to buy the car.
I was looking to build a G/GMR when this car popped up on my radar so I figured it was meant to be.
I plan to post the rebuild here and document the cars progress . The car has sat for 23 years so there is some work ahead.
Let's see what the old cars got in it.

Starting, to go through the car some and found a bad ignition switch.
I also found that the car has a small battery to supply power to the non essential equipment such as the gauges and dash lights. The starter is also wired to be used with a remote battery/GPU .

Hello Deuces13,

Glad to hear you have the roadster. Always nice to see a car being prepped to run again.
Best of luck with the project.

PS. In your first post I think you meant to say "World of Wheels", and not World of Speed, as that is what the plaque in the picture says? When someone says World of Speed, I think of the USFRA meet that is put on.
I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?
