Mr. Schimstock

Looking for some recommendations for a data logger to capture general engine data during a run.   What I'd like to capture is the following:

EGT (8 separate signals)
RPM
Coolant temp (2 channels)
oil pressure

A few extra channels for future growth would be nice.   What's a good one at a reasonable cost?
Sproing, crack, ouch!

I asked a cal guy at work.

I'm used to engineering-type data acquisition, which probably blows 'reasonable price' out of the water for most folks. Dewesoft hardware/software is what I'd recommend if there is some high-end aspirations.

A bit lower on the price point, and more focused on autosports, would be something like this:

I've never used one like this, but this one in particular has some expansions and sensor accessories that can get to where this guy needs.
Looks like he'd need at least this thing to get enough temp inputs:
AiM EVO4S Data Logger, no display - Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies
The EVO4S is an evolution of the EVO4 racing data logger from AiM. It has the same screw-in ports but with more power, using Race Studio 3 and XRK data files.

AiM TC (Thermocouple) Hub for MXL, MXG, EVO Series - Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies
The TC (Thermocouple) Hub connects to your AiM MX-Series dash or EVO-Series logger through the CAN bus to add four channels for EGT, CHT, or fluid temperature.

If he's good at writing software, and doesn't mind having a computer run with him, he could investigate something like this. THese are not loggers, but they are interfaces that would plug in with USB, and he'd have to write the software to read, convert, and store the data on a computer

Check out the data logger that Gale Banks has. We run an AEM unit in our lakester right now but my son, and partner and driver, works at Chuckle' Garage and they have used this logger on their record holding pickup and Duke thinks it is pretty neat so we are switching for next year.  https://bankspower.com/products/banks-idash-supergauge-datamonster

Not much matters and the rest doesn't matter at all.

Check what Datamax from Comutech has to offer. We use their system for data logging. Here's their eight sensor system using a lap top for viewing the data as well as for storage of the information.

Innovate has been around for a long time but have gone through a few company changes. I think their current address is the same as Autometer's so don't know current story. However, their LM-1 or LM-2 logs O2 data and 16 or 32 channels. Their Logworks software, is a mature product and works great. The system is modular and you can add devices as needed. There are a lot of options so it it takes a bit of time to create something specific to your needs. You can add EGT, TPS, etc.

This eBay link is messy but if it works the picture shows all the cables and a fair idea of the kit with a poor description.

Another option I heard about..

RPM data loggers work very well! I have 28 channels of data on my system. Customer service is THE BEST! They always answer the phone, either the owner or his second in command, not sure how many employees work there, might only be two.

I have also used a RPM datalogger in the past, it was a 20 channel system I believe.  It worked very well and they do have great customer support.

The thing about the Innovate system is you can spend $100-$800. There is a module or sensor for everything. You can build a system specific to your needs or budget. But if you outgrow it, or become more familiar with the software, you can add functionality. The ebay link above kind of gives an overall pic of the system. But you can start with a single O2 and add functions, or just log rpm and nothing else. Flexibility is its key.

I have zero linkage to Innovate, neither financial or otherwise.
