About 1970 (give or take a couple of years) I saw this car on display in Long Beach, CA near the United States aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, which at the time was the world's largest.  It was also on display, and available for tours by folks like me and my family.

The Spirit of America car at the time didn't have an engine in it (as far as I remember).  But it was still quite awesome.

Decades later -- perhaps about 2003, give or take a few years -- when Craig Breedlove had his home and shop in Rio Vista, CA (next to the Sacramento River), I visited on a day that was an "open house".  He was trying to raise money for the project of his later (last) land speed car, and was selling autographed posters and scale models of his land speed cars.  What a thrill it was to meet him, talk to him, and shake his hand.  Here's a pic.

Tom, the banana has already been done... you will need to come up with something different... oh I know... glue a couple of old dog turds spelling NY to the bill of an old Dodgers hat... wearable art

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Can anyone speculate on who would be the top 5 bidders and where would it go?
"My, people come and go so quickly here." Dorothy, from the movie Wizard of Oz.

"I have marveled often at the thin line that divides success from failure, and the sudden turn that leads from apparently certain disaster to comparative safety." Ernest Shackleton, Antarctic Explorer, 1874-1922.

From the movie Dr. Strangelove, General Jack D. Ripper:

"Mandrake, in the name of Her Majesty and the Continental Congress come here and feed me this belt boy... Mandrake, come over here, the Red Coats are coming!"

"He said war was too important to be left to the generals. When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right. But today, war is too important to be left to politicians. They have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought. I can no longer sit back and anYyotd3TQllow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids."

Just looked at the auction website and the SOA SONIC 1 sold for 1 million 325 thousand dollars.
The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

The Car sold for $1,325,000. Does anyone know who bought the Car or where it's going?
