Back at it on my car and I'm looking at my leg situation. I really don't like the idea of them getting beat up in worse case scenario. Has anyone ever used "window netting" for anything like that? I have a couple ideas on how I'd make it work, but figured I'd ask. Thank you...

Yes it is common to use netting for leg restraints, there  are many clever designs in use for 2 and 4 wheel streamliners as well as other classes.  Keep all the delicate parts inside the cage.    :-)

another idea--- you may want to put funny car type constraints on your on you legs they attach on your lap belt just like arm restraints

Max Lambky had leg restraints in his streamlined bike that latched with the swing up steering.  It was linked to a pin that dropped into restraints sewn into the legs.  It took some effort to get it all aligned but was effective.

I have a window net across my legs in the liner. The right side is attached to the lower down tube of the cage & plugs into two trunk latches (from the racing section of the junkyard) on the left downtube.
No cert required for a leg net.
