Lemming Motors

Posted on behalf, I am still lurking, but my Lakester progress has been slow (Lemming John) - workshop finally complete, running out of excuses.

Gary is in the UK and builds S2000 track cars (very successful in the series) and restores classic cars / builds hot rods - nice, quality work. His website is being rebuilt, the placeholder is a pic of the lakester, my 56 Chev pickup (he did some of the build for me), another Chev and a Loaded Gunn race car.

I/BFL
1ltr Toyota Yaris turbocharged methanol fuel power, target 400hp
6 speed XTrac gearbox / transaxle.
Built to break 214mph record

The Lakester is pretty much complete in terms of a rolling chassis with body.
Dummy engine for plumbing purposes.
No ECU ? is designed to have a race management dash.
Oil lines, fuel lines, water hoses all plumbed.
Master switch push cable done.
Extinguisher done, throttle cable is in too.
Turbo and manifold in, as is heat shield.
Have a good base engine unit but most of it will be replaced with steel race bits.
Driver size 5?6? 85/90kg

If you are interested email me with your contact details and I will pass them on...... johnmellelieu@gmail.com

On current conversion about $38k USD - plus shipping and import duties (unless you are in the UK in which case its GBP 28k)
A Bonneville Lakester please barman.
Certainly sir; a lick of salt, a sip of gas and a twist of Lemming. More Lemming sir?

This is NOT my G/GL but I do appreciate I have not updated that build diary in a while. It is still a project but the house new build, workshop and grounds took precedence - I was made redundant which impacted the funds, now back full time.

Pictures and CAD files - I am having trouble uploading - I resized but I think I need to rename too since I have made an attempt already.

John,That's a nice looking Lakester.   But doing 214 is not really going to get the I/BFL record...
Ross Powers set it to 242 in 2021
Then he upped it to 255.7 last year... yea he was driving the Bockscar

Hey Stainless

I just caught up with that news. I did not check the records, just transcribed what Gary provided. Congrats to the Bockscar crew.

Gary's Lakester is designed to run against a 256 record folks  :-D
