It would be interesting to see the time logs on the Voxans record runs,,

FIM records listing show that the 283.182mph record was set on 11-22-21,,

Official Wind data at KSC shows wind speeds of 8-13mph, gusting to 17mph from the NW quarter,,

The KSC runway is on an alignment of about NNW to SSE,,

First Australian to ride a motorcycle over 200mph at Bonneville,,,

That's some excellent behind-the-scenes thinking, my friend.

I would be excited to know if they had clocks for entry and exit speeds.

THAT would be even bigger bragging rights, since, with on-board data of 293mph
they are on the doorstep of being the only (living) sit-on rider over 300 mph ...........

Bill Warner went 311 MPH at Loring on a sit on motorcycle

QuoteI guess I would be willing to accept these speeds, but I would be more comfortable if they were verifiable  OUTSIDE the Voxan organization.   The Voxan "results" often read like an advertising-writer's dream, and not a listing of 3rd-party facts.

FWIW an FIM technical person I know was present at the attempt and has posted links to Voxan's record announcement on FB. Presumably he would not do that if he felt they were fabricating speed numbers at an event where he was an official.

The word that I got from the "grapevine" is that the speeds were recording via GPS and not offically timed.  The references to FIM was just that "references".
Of course, the "grapevine" doesn't have a flawless record.

Thank you Ransom T ,   " grapevine " speeds via gps .
When i sing the praises of landspeed bike riders i get , gp bikes do 200 MPH , to which my reply is yes for about 1.5 seconds  .

The Kennedy Space Center runway is 3 miles long, right?
So... is that, 1 mile run up, 1 mile thru the traps, 1 mile shut down?

IDK, just askin.

That is indeed the layout for a FIM flying start land speed record attempt.  The return (or back up) pass has to be made in the opposite direction within 2 hours. The timed distance is therefore placed in the middle of the available length of straight runway.

The FIM regulations require there to be at least 1500m, or 0.93 miles, shutdown from the exit of the timed distance (where record speeds are up to 500km/h, 311mph). The site would have received 'sign off' from the governing body with 2.86 miles of length.

Max Biaggi and the electric motorcycle constructor Voxan broke 21 world speed records at Space Florida's Launch and Landing Facility, at Kennedy Space Center (United States). The new records were set between 18 and 23 November 2021.

On Monday 22 November, the most coveted of all the world records targeted in Florida was beaten. With a speed of 455.737 km/h (283.182 mph), Max Biaggi and the Voxan Wattman claimed the prestigious world record in the "partially streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg" class.

In line with FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme) regulations, the Voxan Wattman's speed was measured from a flying start over 1 km in opposite directions, within a period of two hours. Under Federation rules, the final speed is the average of the two speeds recorded over these two runs.

The Wattman's GPS speedometer recorded a maximum instantaneous speed of 470.257 km/h (292.204 mph). The Voxan machine with its distinctive grey styling, designed by Sacha Lakic, set the stopwatch alight with a blistering performance.

On Sunday 21 November, a non-streamlined version of the Voxan Wattman without its fairing also took on the challenge over a distance of 1 km, from a flying start. The principle was identical: 1 km in opposite directions, within a period of two hours. Once again, the final speed was the average of the two speeds recorded over these two runs. The new world record in the "non-streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg" class is now 369.626 km/h (229.675 mph).

Gildo Pastor's team had a number of other world records in their sights. After these six days of attempts, the final record tally is as follows:

Under 300 kg class

- 1 mile, flying start, partially streamlined         : 454 km/h (282 mph)
- 1 mile, flying start, non-streamlined               : 368 km/h (228 mph)
- 1/4 mile, flying start, partially streamlined      : 293 km/h (182 mph)
- 1/4 mile, flying start, non-streamlined            : 285 km/h (177 mph)
- 1 mile, standing start, partially streamlined     : 273 km/h (169 mph)
- 1 mile, standing start, non-streamlined           : 260 km/h (161 mph)
- 1 km, standing start, partially streamlined       : 223 km/h (138 mph)
- 1 km, standing start, non-streamlined             : 219 km/h (136 mph)
- 1/4 mile, standing start, non-streamlined        : 156 km/h (96 mph)
- 1/4 mile, standing start, partially streamlined  : 149 km/h (92 mph)

Over 300 kg class

- 1 km, flying start, partially streamlined          : 408 km/h (253 mph)
- 1 mile, flying start, partially streamlined        : 404 km/h (251 mph)
- 1 mile, flying start, non-streamlined              : 367 km/h (228 mph)
- 1 km, flying start, non-streamlined                : 364 km/h (226 mph)
- 1 mile, standing start, partially streamlined    : 255 km/h (158 mph)
- 1 km, standing start, partially streamlined      : 216 km/h (134 mph)
- 1 mile, standing start, non-streamlined          : 216 km/h (134 mph)
- 1/4 mile, standing start, non-streamlined       : 153 km/h (95 mph)
- 1/4 mile, standing start, partially streamlined : 142 km/h (88 mph)

A small point that does not seem to have been publicised, is that the 'Over 300 kg' mile and km flying start records were set with a different rider (according to the FIM).

253.842 mph should be enough to put Louis-Marie Blondel into Scott's list in position 50-something.

interesting...this is the non streamlined...means naked....version from the 2020 attempt...it shows a different front suspension

the streamlined 2021 body work is also different to the 2020 version

Thomas: I only know what is on the Venturi and Voxan web sites, but I think there are some quite major differences between 2020 and 2021 versions.

I hadn't noticed the suspension, but wheelbase is extended (implies frame and bodywork changes), batteries changed (power output increased) and weight lost to fit in the "+150 kg to 300 kg" class.

Can you do the "Ristretto" version?  :-)
