On the good side:  Thanks for the $$ that you've sent in so far.

On the bad side:  How's this turn into a marching song thread?  Why not include drinking songs?

We had to carry Cary to the ferry,
And the ferry carried Cary to the shore.
And the reason that we had to carry Cary
Was that Cary couldn't carry any more.

"I heard about her in June 1963 at Fort Knox. (BTW: Last rotation to train with the M1 Garand!)
And the Eskimo girls and the rifle/gun relationship and ............."

Like "I don't know but I've been told.................................."?

I was issued my M-1 in Ft Knox in August, 1960. I still remember its serial number- 2238410. In Germany we were issued an M-14, with the full-auto lever. Both were good, rugged rifles.

Jon, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I'll go to the "donate" button for penance.

Let me know when we get to "Bollocky Bill the Sailor"
I`d never advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...But they work for me.

Are you sure, Jerry?  My sister taught me "Barnacle Bill the sailor man".

Jon....Barnacle Bill ( from Popeye) is sung to the tune of Bollocky Bill the Sailor. Not for the sensitive types.

Well, the one that Karen taught us was anything but delicate.  She brought it home from her first term at Western Michigan Univ.

Back to paying the bills, k?

Donated via PayPal.  Thanks for this great site. 👍

Thanks for the donation, RR, and thanks for breaking the ice for me.  I'm always hesitant to ask for some $$ from those of you that use this site and the Forum.  You've provided me with what I've needed to keep it running with few, if any, ads.  For that matter, I don't have a wealthy Sugar Mama to pay the costs, either.  That leaves my wallet and yours.

I'll be at SpeedWeek as usual, live streaming the audio and being a fount of critical information and blather.  SCTA-BNI provides lodging and meal tickets (Enola Gay Cafe, not the Steakhouse at the Rainbow) for the volunteers, so I'm covered on costs there.

But there's Meridix's fees (the streaming company I use), and the megabytes on the metered line for my JetPack's (wi-fi hot spot generator), and hey!!! - the gas price has dropped.  It's dropped such that I'll ONLY spend about $900 on the trip.  (Disclaimer:  SCTA usually pays for some gas for my truck since I spend a couple of days chasing hither and yon placing toilets at BOTH return roads at the 6 1/2 so racers and workers can have some peace and quiet to contemplate their runs.  I drive a few hundred miles on the salt each event.  Thanks.)

Okay, I gotta hang it up for the day.  Long day tomorrow:  Pack 11 cases of 200 MPH Club (table gifts for the Club banquet.  Wednesday 10 August at the Nugget.  Tickets ONLY IN ADVANCE) glasses in the truck, pack some clothes (Yeah, it's radio, but stil I try to maintain a modicum of decency...), stow the electronics that I'll need, change the oil filter in the truck (I've put about 11,000 miles on this oil and filter.  I'll swap filters but leave the oil in there.  I change oil at about 25k miles), load up on diet Mt. Dew and hit the road Saturday morning.  Saturday night I'll stay at a nice crack whore motel (trying to keep costs down for you and me) and then Sunday head to eastern Montana.  Monday night I'll be in Wendover after stopping on the salt to say howdy and to get an idea of conditions/take pics so I can report back to youse guys.

Thanks for anything you send.  Use the Paypal button if you can - I can draw on it from the road.  Thank you very much and - -

I'll see you on the salt!

My first wife, Ella, was in the US Navy for three years so so knew some really good ones, such as "Frigging In The Rigging" and others.  :-D I don't know if Slim would allow me to post the first line of that.

The Donate button is not very obvious. It is on the home page of the website, but not these forum pages. Here is a direct link. Be nice to Jon for all he does for landspeed racers. Thanks Jon!

The seasoned pro that he is, Jon's able to snatch a few greenbacks outta your hand if you just thrust them thru the western door when you pick up your time strip.

(Move the MPH decimal point one digit left of the best speed for a suggested minimal tip.)
