I don't have the date for sure, but I'll guess '02.  I found some other racers of the day in that file, too.

White streamliner is from 2002 - Rick got the 2001 and 2002 Speedweek pin on his cap
Big Al is also a 2002...not only that he is wearing the full face helmet but also Betsy shows the bracket for the wing on the bodywork which was only used
in that year
Don Vesco 2001 with the streamlined turbine exhaust
Carl Heap 2002...still without the Oregon snowshovel upfront but the super duty pickup as push car...a year later they used the quartermiler truck from George Nielsen

There's four really good people here & Al is the only one still alive. He turned 81 this year & he & Jane drove up to visit back in June. I can't imagine them not being in my life but our clocks are clunking.

1990 first run over 400 mph with a single engine car by Nolan White during Speedweek...a day later Al Teague run also over 400 mph with his Betsy...
1990 World of Speed (the 4th) Rick White set the record at 384.738 mph...hope this answered the question
According to my attempts at "research", Al had the Top Time at 1990 Speed Week at 393.741 mph.  If that is correct, there cannot have been any 400 mph runs.  Unless we are talking about exit speeds?

Nolan is also credited with a career top speed of 442.496 mph but I cannot find any information about when that was achieved.

like you, the information about this first 400 mph run with a single engine streamliner, is a little bit nebelous...

so I went into my archive to refresh my knowledge....and I found a note about the 4th WoS...the 1990....in that article the author is writing that they run for FIA !...and that Nolan run as the first over 400 mph with a single engine streamliner...over the kilo...not the mile...as he mentions kilo and WoS, SW and WF normally not run over the kilo it has to be FIA...

unfortunately there is no number of the fastest of speed of Big Al...albeit there is his comment that he run also fast!....and finally there is no further comments about Rick White...as he set his 384 mph record on the last day of WoS....maybe FIA, too....and one way 400+....* more later

I attach this jpg here for viewing....and the discussion....

also they confirm the 393 mph from Big Al during SW

well...the other informations I had from 1990 about that 1st 400 runs, they always said August 1990...so all this writer were wrong.....

unfortunately...about runs and records...my files are not complete before 1998....so I still working on that to fill that gaps that we getting the right facts....

Nolan's 442 mph run was on a private timing after WF 1999....I got the certification for that run....so I can confirm....yes...he run that fast....for the date I would have to check the paper

As only the desert news article mentions the FIA runs and the other always talking about records under SCTA/USFRA rules from the WoS/SW/WF, it was not aware that in 1990 they runs during WoS FIA attempts ...

FIA list are very unlucky as the mostly shown the former records not or only one or two.....

in my 2005 FIA list the 1990 attempts during WoS shows only the last record.....set by Rick White....!
