After missing the last 2 years, with 2 trips to Elmo as first timers to test new engine and get an education, we are sooo ready for some salt.
As far as SCTA/USFRA, dig them both. We prefer USFRA most of the time but still need our Speed Week fix every few years.
USFRA Pros
1. cheaper entry
2. cheaper rooms
3. better weather (usually)
3. shorter lines and still some fast SOBs and a good show
4. Super cool organization
Cons.
1. no car show

Looks like I'll be driving solo Scottsdale to Bonneville. When I get there I'll be needing some help with strapping in and I can always use some advice.
Looking forward to seeing old friends again.

Monte, will y'all update the schedule a little... When will the salt open for pit setup?  OK as I hear it no fuel on the salt, but you can bring a sealed cans...
Ice?  I heard no ice, so has anyone told Smiths, the gas stations and truck stops there may be a run on ice...
I want to try to schedule arrival so I don't take a lot of stuff to town... limiting my possible losses...  :?
See you there

We will have security at the end of the road and on the salt on Tuesday evening. For any of you that want you will be able to leave your trailers on the salt that night.
Vehicle tech inspection will begin on Wednesday afternoon. You will be able to get your pit area set up on Wednesday.
Ellen also spread the word for the Smith's store and gas stations to stock up on ice. We hope they do so.
We are looking forward to having a great meet. See you all there.

Monte, Do you start running on Friday?  I'm planning on getting to WOS on Thursday to set up and register my roadster and I haven't ever been to WOS before, so I have no idea what the schedule is like for running.  Looking forward to it, thanks!

Yes, Friday morning after drivers meeting we drop the hammer, i believe if you go to the USFRA web sight it has the schedule.
We show up Wednesday afternoon, drop everything off at our pit, then a nice casual day on Thursday setting up and getting through tech.
Then a few sodas

You are in for a treat with your first USFRA meet, it's not like a circus event but more like you're going racing with your best friends. There are a lot of people that only run with USFRA because of this.

Thanks, that's helpful info!  I couldn't find any schedule info anywhere online, and I consider myself fairly internet savvy. The USFRA site just recently was updated with a schedule that says "coming soon".

I've got my roadster just about ready to go...should be able to fire it up this week and load it this weekend if everything checks out.

Yesterday's rain missed the salt & as of 30 minutes ago the bike meet is dry & smooth & not even sticking to tires.

I pray it stays that way for everyone out there.

Some helpful information. There is a distributor for the approved gasolines here in Salt Lake area.  Pilot Thomas Logistics,  1117 N. 400 E., North Salt Lake.  (801)-397-8302.
They also carry methanol in cans and bulk.
You will need to check the SCTA website for the list of approved gasolines if you are not already familiar with the list.

Getting excited  8-) any word on condition of the salt and when the grooming will start? Thanks all, drive safe and go fast!

USFRAMONTE

We started our course grooming on Saturday the 31st. The salt is dry and hard and we feel confident that conditions will be quite good for World of Speed.
We are prepping two courses, a long and a short. The layout out will be much the same as it was for Speedweek.
We will send some pictures to Ellen today so look for them to be posted on our website and Facebook page.
We anticipate hosting a great event. See you all in a couple of days.
