I think we got one and Ross probably has it... Might have even received one at SpeedWeek... Dave would have it.  I don't remember... you know I've slept since then.  I don't think they were issued before this year, but they could have had them last year too, it was too wet for us to run.

Our record marks take up less room

I'd have to check the fridge down in the barn, but I believe those stickers for El Mirage, SW and WF have been around since 2018.

This would make sense,

as I was in August 2017 the last time at the SpeedWeek Meet, the next seasons I missed due to a personal reason, than due Covid....back in 2022, we had no season...kicked out of order in 2023...and I couldn't fly to the states.....so, I never had a change to see this patches....before I saw them at the WF 2024....

Thanks for the information

Two (2) of three record stickers we picked up at WOS and WF.  Must have missed the 234 sticker but was a bit distracted at the time.  Will try to remember to ask the SCTA if they would get me that one, maybe next year?

Well we raced and set records in 2020 and 2021 and didn't get one, so maybe they were EM... this was the first time I have seen them.

Thank you Stainless.

Yes, I received a record certificate from USFRA, and a plaque a couple of weeks ago.  I haven't gotten anything from the SCTA.

Okay, your WoS record certificates, and such are handled through USFRA.
Jerry who does the timing tags for the SCTA/BNI wouldn't have you listed anywhere to receive a timing tag since it was a USFRA meet and not an SCTA/BNI meet. In my short, ten year run with the SCTA, I don't recall timing tags issued from the SCTA/BNI for records set at USFRA meets.
Cheers.

As I said earlier the SCTA/BNI does not do timing tags for USFRA event records.  But I did contact Heather and she is going to ask the board if they will authorize the sale of timing tags to USFRA record setters at the WoS since those records are certified by SCTA/BNI inspectors.  If they OK it,  I'll order one for Ross to go with his certificate and plaque.
But we won't have an answer till after the January board meeting.

I would gladly pay a fee to have an official timing tag for the record I set at World of Speed.  I understand that it was a USFRA meet, but...and this is just an opinion.. it seems like it would be pretty easy for the SCTA to offer timing tags for records set there.

For example, driver contacts SCTA, SCTA confirms that record was set (since they do certify all WoS records), then SCTA collects fee and sends notification to Jerry to make a tag and ship it out.  I would imagine there would only be a handful of us every year that run into this anyway.

Thank you again Stainless for getting the ball rolling on this.  I'll wait to hear what they say after the meeting.

I appreciate everyone's help and comments.

Well the board met and Heather Black replied:
The SCTA Board met on Friday and after a long discussion, voted that if you set a record at a USFRA event you would have to request a timing tag from them.

I replied back:
Heather,
Thanks for bringing the inquiry to the board, we thought it might be an income stream for the BNI.  Is it OK to post the reply on Landracing.com that the SCTA/BNI will not make and sell timing tags to BNI record setters for BNI records set at a USFRA event.

Heather replied:
I totally understand....The records are SCTA records at the USFRA event that is why the SCTA Board discussed and voted not the BNI. And I don't mind if you post at all.

So the answer is no the SCTA/BNI will not sell you a timing tag for a record set at World of Speed.

Thank you for getting the question before the board.

Frankly I'm not surprised at their answer, but I am a little disappointed that a SCTA/BNI member that sets a SCTA certified record can't even pay to get a timing tag for that record.  But I get it, USFRA is ultimately responsible for their event.

Oh well, I appreciate you relaying the answer.  Hopefully I will set another record this year at a SCTA event.

Yet you have to pay $120 SCTA membership even to race at a USFRA event if you want your record to be recognized, sounds like crap to me :x

I believe that you need to a BNI member ( $120 ) to run at Bonneville.
Being an SCTA member ( $100 average ) allows you to run at El Mirage without being a guest.
For those who run both SCTA events and at Bonneville, they are on the hook for both memberships. And, if you are an SCTA member, you need to be affiliated with a club which means you need to perform a "duty" at least once a year.
There are a few exceptions and work arounds but for the most part you got to pay up.
