No $hit!! When is every racer going to turn their brain on & understand what the hill is going on here! Right now that fresh water is saturating with salt & the only place that salt will be deposited is where that water is allowed to evaporate & that's on the south side of the freeway.

I have known a number of people over the years refer to a fast car as a roadster, not realizing it's an old term that comes from coachbuilding meaning a 2 seater with no windshield, no side windows, and no roof. I corrected them when I could.

Jerry, you are 100 percent correct. That is what Elon calls it.  I modified the subject line for you.

First of all it is not a roadster.

Q. How can you tell when a tech CEO is lying?

A. His lips move.

Having spent a lot of time working in tech I can confirm this is frequently accurate...

Just imagine if they decided to build a LSR car...
I'm sure that it would forever change the game.

Anyone see the latest Tesla Roadster demo?
Maybe wilder than the rocketry was Elons claim that the target speed for the new Roadster is half a Mach. That's 383mph. He flippantly said something along the lines of "who needs to worry about tires?"

Of all message boards on planet earth this one probably has the most readers that have physically, with their own eyes, seen a set of tires after a 380mph+ run. Elon has made possible some spectacular engineering innovations, but I think the only Tesla Roadster that'll ever see 380mph+ has already left Earth's orbit.

As someone buidling a car who has never raced with SCTA it's disheartening. At the same time SFM not knowing how fast he was going by a 100mph is dangerous and should be taken seriously, but I think they went overboard.

There's a bunch of structural problems with the SCTA where they allow unsafe cars to run that fit the rules and don't communicate anything incidents to improve safety. Maybe if the SCTA didn't feel like their only tool to improve safety was driver bans after not following one exacting protocol they would be more measured in their discipline.
