Well, sort of.  He told me to reduce the stress in my life.

Explorer? ha! you're not the retiring type.....I had an 82 V, that was a seriously good guitar, it's one of the half dozen or so Gibbo's I regret selling over the years......

Here is the rest of it before I block sanded it. Just set stuff on it to see how its going to look.
About ready to shoot the clear now.

I could sell this for a billion dollars and still loose money due to the hours I have put in it!!!

Wow, and I was starting to feel guilty for charging a guy $50/hr. for some easy CAD work. :-D Looks REAL good. I might have to do a little refinish work on one of mine now. 8-)

You know, I've always said I hated pointy headstocks, Floyd Rose twang bars, flat radius necks and overwound humbuckers - but whenever I go to a music store and I see one of these "I've-been-had"s, I can't help but plug it into some grindy Marshall amp and let the finger tapping tricks, dive bombs and pig squeely harmonics flow.

Problem is, if I got one, I'd have to grow a mullet again, and Kate will have nothing to do with that.

Jonny, if it rocks as good as it looks, that'll be a screamer.

I once used a mauve Kramer with a Floyd and a backwards headstock....for a part, I did not leave the room with it.........

Jonny, it needs a monsta tach.

Years ago while teaching guitar at 'Mississippi Music' Meridian Ms, the GM handed me a mint 1957 tobacco sunburst strat (*with 13s) and plugged it into a same vintage fender tweed. (I think the combo sold about a year later for 45K in '97). It had action you could drive a truck under....and I couldnt play ANYTHING on it. The GM 'Dave' was all worked up on how great it was; how awesome it played and sounded. To me the guitar was junk.

Dont get me wrong I get the historical significance, beauty and wow factor of what it was but couldnt do anything other then sounding like a beginner.

I always attested that I would never own a Fender....never liked them. Funny thing is that I picked up a US strat the other day (I was made an offer I couldnt refuse...50$!!!!). After putting it together and setting it up I really is a fantastic guitar. Funny how depending on the mood a pointy guitar just wont do!!!!

A few other of my non pointy guitars but most of my 40+ guitars never see the light of day!!!!

Here is the before:

The project started because the guitar had some cracks in the neck pockets that I had to sand down to see if they were structural. This left me with some bald spots and opted for CF vs. just a repaint.

I am finished with this stupid thing!!!! I only thought it would take a couple weeks but turned into a huge pain. I will say it turned out really nice, the photos dont capture the 3d effect of the CF.

I just have a little set up to do and it will be all done!

-also...to my player friends....I wonder if the CF will change the tone??? I am excited to see how she will sound once I get her strung up!
