Its funny how things can happen by forum... May or may not have been.

But I asked for two years now for the Motorcycle Meeting at Speedweek be held at night somewhere off the salt.

This year IT WAS held at night, at the Nugget... Conducting the meeting was Tom Evans and Russ Odaley.

It was a great meeting, alot of topics were brought up. Even got a little heated on a few... But at least I didn't have to leave the line, or be interupted by high revving engines... The nice air conditioning was great.

I am dissappointed in the turn out from the motorcycle community however. The motorcycle TECH guys gave us the forum, place, time and airconditioning and there was an extremely poor turnout.  I would say there were about 20 people there. Alot of crew members from different teams.

a couple of definition wording rules were introduced, also the concept of only changine rules every other year if things needed changing.
As for the MPS and APS with harley and S&S cases controversary of the current records. The records stand where they are. A few other items were discussed.

I will say also, that the motorcycle of things this year was great again. A hand shake to all the motorcycle Tech guys, very smooth operation this year from my standpoint.

A checkpoint station before you moved your bike up to check leathers, helmets, cd radio and fire extingishers was great and moved things right along. Tech inspection went easy, no hassels...

GREAT JOB... And thanks...

Seems as those who bitch the loudest are always the no shows. No one to blame except themselves.

Not being listed in the schedule was  contributing factor.
I was not available and bitch the loudest with cause.
Publication works and participation by the participants works too.
I might have an audio tape.
Let's see what becomes of it.

It was posted at the motorcycle trailer as always of where and when.

Maybe for next year we can ask you have it listed in the schedule of events. I will send an email off asking for that.

Pizza Hut would welcome a bunch of hungry bikers for an evening.
Maybe I can get a kick back ?  LOL

It should be posted on the SCTA website, listed in the program, announced at the drivers meeting, posted in BIG letters at the sign-in trailer, anounced throughout the day on the radio station, and anywhere else you can think of. If you truly want to have member input they need to be included, and every effort made to try and do just that. And then they should have another meeting at the World Finals for all those that could not make Speedweek.
Bonneville 2001,2002,2003,2004,and NO stinking 2005,DLRA 2006, next?
Well, sure can't complain about 2008--6 records over 200 and 5 hats from Bonneville,Bubs, and El Mirage for the team!

We did all that after we replaced AMA until Dale Martin changed it.
The average count was about 60 and very well received by the racers that had no other representation forum to share ideas.
The staff was very friendly and communicative.
The results were more clarification than changes and all at the request of the racers.
The early World Finals were timed out of my motor home and were a very casual , friendly affair.
WHAT A CONCEPT !!!

Jim,

Most of the above were done. Program and drivers meeting excluded.

It was posted at trailer, and was announced. As for the World Finals deal, your on your own there... Im sure if you have any ideas they would be more then happy to discuss them...

The meeting was announced at the driver's meeting (I think).  I heard mention of the meeting somewhere, and I thought it was the driver meeting.  I remember because when I heard that there'd be a meeting of motorcycle people at "The Shooter's Lounge at the Nugget" my first reaction was to think that this was to be a social event, not the rules meeting.  I mentioned it to Nancy, and it took a little inquiring to find out that this was, indeed, the rules meeting.  Attend we did -- Nancy and me, Scott and Ellen Guthrie.  We were a bit tardy in arriving, having put our bike into impound after a long wait in line, and the we had to leave early for a dinner reservation (Happy Anniversary Scott & Elen).  Contrary to what I hear I looked like when I left -- I wasn't grumpy -- just in a hurry to leave.

What we heard at the meeting was a good discussion and a good meeting.  Many views were aired, some brought to a resolution that was popular, some to a conclusion that wasn't what the originator (probably) wanted -- but it was a good meeting.  I've been to about 2/3 of the meetings since we started racing -- and it was definitely much more better-er to have it away from the races, after racing hours, with comfortable chairs.  Thanks to Russ and Tom.  I'll go again next year, you betcha.

The meeting was announced at the driver's meeting. I personally put the mention on Mike Manghelli's agenda. Pubishing the place and time in the program were not possible as a place had not been secured months before the event. Didn't matter, some don't even attend Speedweek.

I planned on attending but, a committment made by Lee Kennedy on my behalf stalled those plans. Reports on a successful meeting please me to no end.

Thanks, Dan, for reassuring me that I wasn't hearing things.  I look at the meetings in the same manner I look at voting -- if you don't (vote/go), you forfeit the right to bitch when things don't go the way you wanted them to go.  Bitching might not get you your way -- but at least you let your voice be heard.

It was not as hard as some would be afraid of and Dan has seen them work well before.
It isn't the out of hand brawl that seems to scare people but can be a well organized, productive session.
Even if you don't speak your mind, you can improve it and feel part of what should be your program.
The location can be TBA and we had them all over Wendover.
The notice and schedule is most important.
The location can be anywhere you can find.
Work on developing the interest in going so they clear their schedule and if they can't find the location,
you probably didn't want them there anyway.
We never had a drunk or a rowdy.
We even had the Kawis talking with the Suzis and the Yamamas.
If we did they were acting like they were with their mother.
THX FOR THE PROGRESS. LOL
