I am sad to report Jack Costella passed away several hours ago.

He was a good friend and great innovator.

Glad he was able to make the trip to Bolivia with us.

May he Rest In Peace.

Our condolences to everybody that knew him.  And - now who are we gonna call "the old hippie"?

Sorry to hear this. But Jack really lived his life fully every day. Not many can say that.

Around 2003 I took my then 12 year old grandson to SW. We went around the pits and a lot of guys had Carl sit in their race cars, including the Phoenix. Always with a warning about chute release. I had never met Jack but new of him and his cars. When we got to his pit it was just Jack and his liner. I asked if he was Jack Costella and he gave me this "who wants to know" look and says "yeah". I said "I wanted to introduce my grandson to the most innovative guy at Bonneville. Less than 2 minutes later Carl was sitting in the liner  telling Jack he knew about chute releases and Jack pointing out everything else.

So long Jack

RIP Jack, we will not see the likes of him again.
Unless it's crazy, ambitious and delusional, it's not worth our time!

I'm really sorry to hear this. Jack Costella was a real innovator and his cars' records speak for themselves.

That is a damn shame. Jack could always be counted on to think out of the box. Truly a memorable and salty character.
