My guess is 2000-2001... Belan looks 17, maybe... the cars and chase stuff look about that time as well....
Sid should know for sure....

I'd guess a year or two after that (I think he had a Dodge pickup), I passed him on the 93 right before the 93/93A Junction.  He was doing about 40 MPH.  I pulled my Sedan over at the Junction seeing a bunch of dirt bikes there and I had passed a few decaled-up support vehicles going south before I got there.  They were all speaking French and German and maybe more.  They were touring a circular route around Nevada. I told a medical support guy that the "fastest car in the world" (I know, I know) would be coming by in a few minutes.  Then Al pulled in to rest his horses and they were all over it like flies on poop.  The trailer had a spare engine, tools, tires, etc.  I asked Al why he was going so slow. He said that if he went 45 he'd start blowing tires.  Dedicated?  You bet!

Any one know what year that was?

I believe they said 1991.

Great memories for myself, thanks for posting

There's footage from more than one year there. Rolling Betsy out of the garage at San Gabriel was the move to Santa Fe Springs in 89, the fire was in 90 & there's some 91 when I went to work on the Herbert Steen Liner. Al & I talk about what happened & when it happened but all those years tend to be one big blur to some extent.
It's funny how me & Anthony never seemed to be where the camera was pointed!

Well I spotted a 1992 inspection sticker on one of the Roadsters... So as Sid said it might be a compilation...
We ran the small tires in the rear from 90 to 2006ish... then again in 2012 for Pork Pie's assault on I/GL. Changed them back to the LSRs for a gear change.... just a slight aero advantage with the 20 inch rears over the 21s.
Hey the salt looked good back then

...and I never run the 20....on Stainless check run one of the tire picked a cut....so the combination, 21 tire and the gearing was a little bit tough...but good enough to get me my first record....

...as I can't view this youtube....but I could see the coverpicture....well...this shows Al at the beginning of the 90's.....one of the best photos of all time from Big Al is the picture which Taylor shot,
when Higbee told Al that he has set the FIA record in 1991....Al....."What...no way..." expression in his face tells a whole story.....

I just watched the video.  Fun, informative, and I'm pretty sure I saw Larry Burford in the scene where they were sweeping windshield fragments.  His legs were unforgettable...  R I P to the guy they named a road after.
