I don't know how many salt racers remember meeting Roy Cox in the last 10 years or so at Speedweek. Roy was a course worker from the time he first went to Bonneville. He volunteered to help, was given a job, and was incredibly surprised to get paid at the end of the event.

He was my friend since 1977. We met working in a machine shop in Wichita, KS and bonded over our common interests - cars, bikes, music, and aircraft. He was whip smart, funny as hell, and always looking to help. We had so many good times and adventures over the decades.

Roy passed away Monday, January 17th of inoperable spinal cancer at the age of 65. I'm going to miss him.
