Hi all, I'm looking for a close ratio manual GM trans so I can start mocking things up on my S10. This does not need to be a 200mph transmission, but it needs to be in the form factor of one.

Ideally this would be a Super T10 with the 1.23 > 1 3rd to 4th shift but I am not picky. If it's got decent top end ratios and can be rebuilt to handle power I'm interested.

Hopefully within day tripping distance of socal

Thanks!

Don't know where you're at, but https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/pts/d/muncie-t10-amc-t10-transmissions-new/7456648853.html

Hint: C/L accepts wildcard searches, i.e. "t10 tran*" (withOUT the quotes).

It's been years . . . but maybe they're still true.

I had problems at first with my Super T10 and broke a few gears -- part driver and part shifter.  I'd bought a Hurst low budget shifter at Pep Boys and thought that might be the problem.  I contacted a Carolina trans. specialist to fix the shifter or recommend another.  He told me that all the Hurst shifters used the same main mechanisms and had me send it to him.  He returned it with beautiful arm links and rods.  Never had a problem with it since.  He also said that taking the reverse gears out was worth about 2 HP.  You do have to put a zerc fitting on the rear bearing area and lube it as the reverse gears served to splash the bearing.  This worked for 19 years and 7 Street Roadster records with no maintenance or problems ever.  Your result may vary.
