I saw on Fake book there will be no VP fuel truck at SW, need to pre order or bring your own sealed VP fuel and pick up i believe will be where the truck would usually park

I wonder how many will bring their own (name your fuel/supplier here) and beg for mercy...

It?s going to cause us a real problem. I need 6 barrels of nitro plus methanol. How the blue blazes do I carry that lot?

Good Morning,

We have a change happening with the gas/fuel for SpeedWeek 2024. VP has chosen not to have a fuel truck on the salt this year. However, they will ship the gas/fuel to Wendover for us so you will have to pre-order, or you will have to bring your own. I know this is different from what we are all used to, but we have been working hard to come up with a solution that works for everyone.

The approved gas list has not changed and is posted on our website (www.scta-bni.org) under Bonneville Documents. There is a link below, on our website on the Bonneville General Info Page and Facebook that will get you to an online order form where you can buy 5-gallon pails of the gas/fuel mentioned below. Your order will be available for pick up along with tank sealing starting Thursday, August 1st at 9:00 a.m. at the truck by impound. You may also bring your own VP gas as long as it is in a factory sealed container. As always, if you are running a fuel class you can bring your own fuel.

What happens if fuel is ordered, and the person doesn't show up?

Well to order fuel you give them a credit card and you buy it when you order... I just ordered my SpeedWeek gas...

It's the link in Heather's letter

Of course, you half to buy it, but what happens to the fuel if you can't make it?

Glad I run C16 and have a local dealer

Check the price, it may be cheaper to order and pickup on the salt

.   Release says you must run VP to set a record in all gas classes

I'd probably try to sell it to another racer.... Just like a pre-entry.
It was the same price I can buy it locally, but I won't need room in the truck to haul it 1200 miles...

SH#T happens what if race is cancelled, truck breaks down, ECT ECT.

VP is about $10 more, 3 5 gal but I would have it and not pore in tank until sure meet not cancelled.

Twice now have gone home with over $300+ of unused VP in tank.

So bad for some racers but not for us.

This sounds like a huge PITA !

Well if you do this long enough you will get used to "$hit happens"... no John, this is not directed at you... it is to everyone... Think back, fuel on the salt for racing has not always been a given... even in recent years... at least now the race fuel is available almost everywhere.  Sealed containers are available and you can bring your own.  Those not running event gas have always had to bring their own fuel.  If you needed 6 barrels of nitro in the past with 10 gallons of methanol, you hauled it.
If we are lucky enough to make more than 10 runs in gas class then I may need to walk around the pits looking for someone that isn't using all the gas they ordered...

Will we have to do the same for World of Speed?  Same procedure, order and pick up?
