Famed Y-Block Bonneville competitor Karol Millar passed away peacefully on June 29th at the age of 95. I recieved the message from his Daughter.
Karol arrived on the salt in 1956 with his orange and white 312? Victoria and fell a little short in his class to a Chrysler 300 but turned many stalwarts salt racers heads before driving the car back to Huston Texas. The following year with a smaller cubic inch YBlock and a Latham blower set the record in his class. Stock bodied YBlock Fords just didn?t go 150 mph. He returned many times to Bonneville and also turned the factory based cars heads at Daytona on the sand.
Ray Brock wrote a very good anrti about Karol?s racing exploits including his NHRA experiences with Rodney Singer and their Potvin Lincoln dragster.
I became good friends with him over 20 years ago when our grandsons play baseball on the same team. We visited him and his life Linda many time as we traveled through Texas on vacation after he moved back after living in California.

"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."   Helen Keller

We are going to explore the racing N words NITROUS & NITRO!

You didn't have to be a Texan to appreciate Karol Miller.  I've learned a lot more about him in the last week or so and every bit of it brings more admiration.
