Saw a post on FB that the ECTA is putting on a 1.5 mile deal at Bonneville next July.
Don't know much about how they plan on timing, records or certification.
We shall see I suppose....

That's good news. I know a couple ECTA racers who I have been telling for a long time - go to the salt and pay your dues.

Well this will be interesting.... kinda like a mix of 130 Club that runs 1 mile and 150 Club that runs 2 1/4 miles except they will run 1.5 miles with a 199 speed limit...
I guess we will find out if the car records are about .6 of the pavement records... traction should make it interesting.... although I suspect the bikes will be way closer than that.
Hopefully they won't run anywhere near the LSR course areas.
I hope they set up the wash off area at the end of the road and not at the airport...

Wow they will be East of Wendover at least   Could this be a joint effort with USFRA possibly? Traction limited would certainly be a bit of a problem I'm thinking.

I've heard no mention of this at any USFRA meetings. Dennis would be up front about it if that were the case.
I have to wonder whose rulebook will be the one used to tech vehicles. My understanding is that you are required to have 4 wheel brakes for ECTA. SCTA and USFRA there is no such requirement. I'm sure there are several other differences.
I hope it is successful for them. But I guess I don't really understand why ECTA wants to put a meet on at Bonneville.
And how many of their racers are going to want to travel all the way out here for a 1.5 mile venue when they could participate in three other meets where you can run either the true short or long courses.
And how many SCTA or USFRA vehicles will want to run this event?
A lot to consider....

AJR, this ECTA meet requires street legal vehicles.... Yea the video seems to get boring, but he says street legal only, no race cars... they will run 1.5 and get a trap at the end.   My guess is that that means no roll cage requirements... go as fast as you can in 1.5 miles on the salt... entrant decides what tires... As I said, should be interesting

With five meets already on the salt & USFRA doing a great job for the street legal people, why does ECTA need to be throwing another meet on the salt. When do they plan on doing this? Where on the salt do they plan on doing this without tearing up somebody else's course? & can the poor salt condition handle another meet?

Cool!
It sounds like a good way for a lot of people to experience running on the salt without the first step being "get a rulebook".

I hope that they are successful,
but the middle of July seems a bit early in the season for dry salt.
We'll see how it goes.

Again, USFRA already have the system for that!

Here is their rule page. Different street classes - cages required over 135. Their special construction class requires following SCTA Bonneville rules - if you want to run Bville. Cage is req @120 in that class.

He says 2009 and newer will be able to run 199 in full stock trim...
Interesting.... I'm not attending or participating but the spin fest should be fun to watch... I think they should have a trophy for the longest black mark
