Sorry if this is not in the correct section.

My crew and I fly in from the U.K. and we usually stay at the Nugget. However, ?Tammy? that used to look after my bookings is no longer there. Now I have emailed several times to the Nugget and Montego Bay?.nobody responds?I have called the Nugget and apparently they don?t know when they are releasing the rooms?..Montego Bay just don?t answer.

Has anyone got a contact somewhere as I need 7 rooms and neither of these hotels seem to be bothered about taking a booking.

Thanks

Geoff, my crew and I stayed at the Nugget last year and it was difficult to book rooms for us as well.  I called several times and eventually got ahold of someone that said they would release the rooms for Speedweek to be booked on a day in April.  So I wrote that down and called on the date I was given.  They still weren't ready on that day, but had me call back the next Monday and I was able to book rooms over the phone.  There wasn't any online availability, as I was checking regularly.

Just wanted to share my experience, so you would know what you might expect.  Honestly, the Nugget seems to be pretty neglected since it was bought out several years ago.

The big three casinos across the street all book through the "Wendover Fun" website now I believe, and I don't see anything on that site yet about speedweek.  I doubt they have released rooms yet.

I've been to Bonneville a few times.  Since Speed Week is the big event, and people book rooms about a year in advance for
this, I'd like to mention something that may seem trivial -- but might help someone.  This is all based on personal experience.
There's a small town in Nevada, called Wells.  It's about 60 miles west of Wendover, and has at least two motels.  I recently
stayed at one of them.  They are less-popular, of course, compared to those in Wendover, but are a little more available for
reservations.  One of them is Motel 6, and it's right next to another one.  You might want to investigate both of them.
Good luck.

Tallguy,

Great post for someone visiting that cannot find a room or cannot afford a room in Wendover.

I don't think the racers would like the extra 2 hours a day drive. JMO.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Especially when you are in impound and need to be at the gate at 630 or something. Wells on Nevada time so you have to get up at 430 local to get to the track.

60 miles away does not mean 60 minutes away with Nevada's speed limits.
How many of you spend that much going to work?  Work -- an ugly word.

Personally, I prefer Wendover -- even farer away.  Lots of nice scenery on the drive before and after the event.

I agree that the additional driving each day (from/to Wells -- instead of Wendover -- ) was a chore.  But it wasn't as popular
among the racing crowd (thousands of people that attend Speed Week), and that makes it easier to get a room.  Wells is a smaller, less exciting town compared to Wendover, but does have a grocery store and a couple of fast-food places.

There's very little traffic on the freeway between Wells and Wendover.  I typically drive fairly fast in those parts, so the required
travel time isn't very extraordinary.  I do, however, always prefer staying in Wendover . . . but can't justify the cost of a motel
room there at one of the casino/hotels.  And I'm not much into the "gaming" stuff anyway.

Yeah, the historic Wendover Hotel Nevada ripped us off for about $80 a night (of course, a good breakfast for 2 was included at 6 in the morning).

Many thanks for your replies. Usually I have not had a problem and by now have reservation numbers. It?s just a pain and I called them last week and the reservation staff clearly have no idea what to do.

Just as an aside note, if you see rain coming move out immediately. Or stay and watch the entertainment, like a boat ramp show.

As an update?the Nugget has a new manager. The website says sold out but I have spoken to the Nugget and they are just blocked out. For some reason they will not release rooms for some weeks. Why?I don?t know. ?.seems rather daft to be honest.

I called the Peppermill and got the rooms I needed. So all good for Bonneville.
