Very sad news. I attended one of Gene's classes a number of years ago, what great time getting to know him. He has indeed made many contributions.

Well we're all leaving eventually & Gene sure has made a mark on rodding over the years & more friends than he could even try to count.
A bunch of years ago at the end of speed week I took Gene & Nitro Nick out to the desert by Montello & we uploaded a 26 T coupe body I'd been threatening to rescue for a few years. Gene needed a body to recreate "The Thing" comp coupe. When we got back to Wendover we stuffed it into the back of Al Teague's truck since I was heading home to Idaho. We didn't have cell phones then so next morning Al had a what-the surprise waiting for him.

Lot of folks thought of Gene only as a body man and customizer, but he was a hot rodder at heart. How many remember seeing his purple and silver "The Thing" on the salt and at El Mirage?

Saw a video of his passing March 4th 2025. He's now one of the car god's overlooking everything automotive.
