My 79 Mustang (C/CGC) has a Ford SVO 9.2 deck 358 CI engine in it. The block is a Cleveland/Windsor one off Nascar set up from the 2000 era. The 79 Mustang came with a 8.2 deck 302 of course. My question is, does my 2001 358" Ford Penske Busch series engine qualify as an engine swap?

Read 4.M 5 more times... Are the ports different... yep I know the block is taller... but the guess is..... contact the SCTA chair for your category and get something in writing...

If the deck heights are different, then it is considered being of a different engine family as stated in the third paragraph of 4.M.
With that said, and as Stainless pointed out, it's best to get approval from the recently formed "Engine Committee" to be sure.
Mike LeFevers is the head of the committee, and his contact information can be found in section 16.

You would certainly want to give the correct info when enquiring legality to avoid a problem if you end up in impound. It's either a Cleveland "or" a Windsor since they are not the same.
