Dodge Brother

Its only 2 weeks till WOS, who's going and what are you running?

We're set to head out the Tuesday and will be bringing our Mini Pickup provided they let us across the border, lol. New engine but its not quite where I want it to be but we're heading down for our first USFRA event and looking forward to it, everyone we've talked with says they are super casual. hopefully we'll get the bugs worked out and get a few good runs in!

Anything we should know for a USFRA event when we get there?

Salt-eh Racing, stop by and chat if you see us in the pits or in line! Hope it's a good turn out!

Sporty Dan

I'll be there with my 1650 M-PBG sportster. My son and I will have to swing by your pits and say hi.  8-)
We will be getting there on Thursday to go thru tech and get our pits set up.

I'm bringing the Tinyvette. It's a 1969 Opel GT dressed up like an ALMS Corvette. I've been racing it in the 24 Hours of Lemons since 2010, but have made two appearances at the WOS, over ten years ago.

We were not in it for a record run, more for the fun, and we ran in the 150 MPH event, and didn't get anywhere close to 150 mph, but it was fun. Until earlier this year we could brag that the Tinyvette was the world's fastest lemon. Earlier this year, another Lemons race car, a '59 Bonneville, beat us, getting the 130 MPH award, and missing the 150 mph mark by less than 1 mph. We never topped 120 mph. Anyway, this year we have more motor and will run in the 130 MPH event.

The cool thing about this year is that a friend will be coming, and if all goes well, he'll get to drive. When he was a kid, his father would take him to Speed Week, and there he met all the big names, such as Mickey Thompson, Craig Breedlove, Burt Rutan, and even Burt Munro. He remembers Burt Monroe well, recalling that he was an odd guy, but it was obvious to all that he had put all of his heart into the endeavor, so people were happy to help him out. Anyway, that was some 40+ years ago, and my friend hasn't been back since, and he has never driven on the salt. So, if the car survives my runs, he'll get to make his.

Rex Schimmer

My son Duke and I will be there. We were "Schimmer and Son Racing" but Woody has christen us "R & D Racing" we like it so we decided to change. We are also changing from fuel class to gas class, so we are now I/GL. The Boxcar record is softer in the gas class so we will be burning the carbon stuff.

Not much matters and the rest doesn't matter at all.

It's raining here & it looks like the salt is getting some with more coming down the pipe. That could be a good thing at this point before WoS.

m610, I've often thought an Opal (tinyvette; lol) would make a pretty slippery land speed racer. Cool Car!

Dodge Brother,

Bill Ward, Dick Knorr, and Ken Lindeback have all run GTs at Bonneville and have been successful.

You can read about it here: https://www.opelclub.com/blitz/files/Blitz-2012-06.pdf

I just saw on the news letter that there will be only one course for all to use, i hope this is not a repeat of last year!

Rice brothers are doing the timing at WoS.
The association is absorbing the expense to avoid the problems that last year had.
And it is very expensive.
The pre entries are way down this year, just as they were at Speedweek.
The lines will be shorter for sure.

Good point, not sure whats up with the small turnouts though. Lets hope the rains stop soon. The long range forecast looks pretty good!

Hi all, just got the engine started last night and it's making some weird noises and running like crap  :-( , so just a heads up, I may have a pre-entry available. I'll be diagnosing today (I hope) and updating by tonight or tomorrow.   muutt
