I made it out here after a week of meandering, and headed to the salt to say hi to everyone and take a few pics.

But first, if the access road is any indication, the race course should be firm and dragged enough to allow for some decent speeds.  You'll get about 4 miles of driving on said access road - - the pits and the compound are a tad over 4 from Land's End.  I didn't pay strict attention, but I believe the start line is about half way from the pits to LE.  The first mile and a half out were pretty brown, with the first half-way decent looking salt another mile or so on.  I did not go to the track but heard that it was - okay.  We'll find out more tomorrow.  I did hear that the course is still feeling the effect of the inch of rain that fell out there past the 6 just last week.  Hope it dries out.  Dang near no salt stuck to my truck or even the tires.

I took some photos, as you can imagine, but Photoshop has changed enough that I can't get the pics to load here.  I'll figger it out in the morning.  Drivers meeting at 8, racing at 9.  Later. . .

This is embarrassing.  Photobucket has changed and I can't figure out how to post pics these days. Do you know how?  Lemme know, please.

Any weather reports  ?
Also any mud at bend in the road  ?
Most rules are written in blood and...... Rule changes are bought by a big fat check. 😉

The bend in the road is dry, as it everything else I've seen this time.

The weather is pretty much what USFRA brags about for WoS (vs SpeedWeek).  Right now it's 77 and slightly hazy/cloudy.  Great stuff!!

As of about noon there only vehicles in impound were Chico's RMR and a small diesel pickup (#1919).  I've seen at least 3 Hayabusas but no other "fast" bikes.  Note:  that's 3 bikes I've seen run.  There may be some who haven't run yet.

77F and DA 5616 right now, Ron says.

Slim,

I download the pictures from my camera to my laptop. Then they are usually too big for posting on this site. So I resize them to work here.
If you need to resize them here is a link that will show you a couple of way to do it using Windows 11. Hope this helps.

Allowed file types: txt, doc, pdf, jpg, gif, mpg, png, xls, jpeg, mov

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Got it!  I needed to upgrade to a better ($$) plan.

First of all, there were four cars in impound when I left the salt at 5.30 or so.  Jim Hoogerhyde went 306 in the 666 electric car.  Chico from Mooneyes put his car into impound.  There was one under wraps so I couldn't see who it was, and there was a diesel pickup.  No bikes.  I'll get accurate speeds for the qualifiers for you tomorrow.

Okay, here are some pics from yesterday and today.

That's it for photos from Thursday.  I'll upload some of today's pics soon.  BTW, I managed to get on the air (AM 1610) with Ron Christensen today.  He made a run in the 7676 car - K/GL, with a 500 Yamaha snowmobile engine.  82 mph - still fighting with the variable speed belt drive system.

"Slim", thank you for sharing these pictures.  I was there, but without a camera.

Thanks for the pics.
Arrived at 8:30. Not many at Bend in the road.  I have a few acres of campsite to myself.  Light to medium winds makes a nice night.  Can't wait to see the car's.

Morning edit....
It rained a bit overnight off/on . Nothing too bad to get me stuck  .
Beautiful sunrise though.

Slim,

Thanks for the pictures. Glad you got to use the mike while you are there. Enjoy yourself.
Thanks again for the pictures, they look great.

Jim Hoogerhyde ran a 310 today, 308 yesterday, on his 306 record from last year.  Chico is up next in the Mooneyes 1523 car.  The Shazam I/GT and also the 1919 diesel pickup backed up theirs too.

I'llk see if I can corroborate those numbers.  In the meantime we're having a great meet.  The weather is primo - 75F, mild tailwind, mostly cloudy, and mellow.  We get a run every few minutes, not too many long waits.  No incidents yet!

Wish you were here!

Saturday, 6 September 2025.  World of Speed, day 2 pictures.  It's late and I won't try captioning all of these just now.  Ask if you've got questions, k?  Thanks.  By the way, when I left the salt this afternoon there were two cars in impound (1919 diesel truck and 2511 Comp Coup) and only 130 & 150 club cars remaining ( plus a BMW trike), meaning that there'll be just two return runs in the morning.

Chico broke the motor in the Mooneyes RMR and has left, Troy Langlo holed the block in the 222 car, the  Clark & Hall #400 'liner was dripping something in the rear (there's a pic in this bunch showing a crew member wiping a nasty looking stain on the trailer floor, and later I saw they'd started taking off the rear parts as if maybe they broke a rear end).  Rex Svoboda made a pass this afternoon in the #631 comp coupe, pulling chute at the 3, and now the car is on the trailer.  Bummer - the new front wheel drive, which features a boat V-drive to get the horsepower from the motor down to the drive wheels mounted directly underneath.

On to the photos:
