I'm about to install my 3/16" polycarbonate windows. In the interest of lowering air resistance, I would like to use countersunk fasteners. However, I'm concerned about cracking the polycarbonate through the reduced cross section caused by the countersink.

Also, I'm not sure whether it would be best to use screws or rivets. A rivet provides a nice shallow 120 degree countersink, which would probably help with the cracking. However, I will not be able to use an adjustable depth countersink bit for a nice clean finish. A 90 degree countersink fastener would make the windows more easily removable, but putting in all those rivnuts would be a huge pain. Not to mention, I don't want to be accused of trying to flush-mount my windows (the rivnut will space them out further).

Anyone have any tips for me? Thanks in advance!

Jerry Bickel race cars, they have window mounting stuff but don't show items.

The 222 Camaro uses countersink fasteners, and we drilled and countersunk the holes when we replaced the cracking original window using existing screws. The screw receiver is something I have never seen before but if you contact Bickel they should set you up with all needed parts.

and add Countersunk Insulating Sleeve Washers.

Do not overtighten the machine screws.
