I see recent posts about 125 mph new car class as a means to recruit young or new generation of land speed racers, it is ridiculous.  When does the SCTA look at themselves in the equation of losing racers or lack of recruitment.  it would be like having a restaurant that is making people sick and serving bad meals and bad service, if that restaurant had a reasonable management or owners you would probably see a big sign across the front of the restaurant saying under new ownership or under new management, if there were any chance of surviving, i.e., focus on keeping people rather than running them off and recruiting new victims.

I'm not sure I understand a perceived problem here (or a perceived solution).

But I'm willing to read more, if you'd care to explain a bit more for folks like me
who didn't get straight A's in school.

If there were more young folks getting into land speed racing, maybe the LSR
community would have a stronger voice in the politics involved to help keep the
sport alive.  On the other hand, maybe the sport isn't in dire need of this.  As
far as I know, El Mirage isn't being mined, and isn't being depleted of a dirt
surface suitable for racing.

We received a letter from the SCTA the permanently banned us from racing for the SCTA and the BNI, Bonneville in which is a place we never joined or attended.  It was signed by Bill Latin and Pat McDowell.

My response :
Let me tell you about poor sportsmanship, and most honest peoples view of that.
I built a car to participate from your supposed rulebook, I even had verbal assurances from SCTA officials that the clause you could run as a guest with certain limitations which I accepted.  After the expense and hard work of producing a nice car which met all of the criteria in the rule book was allowed to enter as a guest.  After entering a few meets, the SCTA moved the goal post and forced me to join a club or shut the car down, that ultimatum is a direct violation of the rule book.  After reluctantly joining a club it was obvious to me we were not part of the club.  After the SCTA?s disturbing behavior I was requested to represent them at the Grand National Road Show.  I did no at my own expense not once but twice.  After accommodating their request on two separate occasions, we were never shown any gratitude or thanked for our efforts.  This is after several monetary donations to the SCTA as well.
At the last show my car was vandalized, other show participants in the VIP building insinuated it was SCTA members, possibly even officials.  No one with the love of motorsports like we have is going to be thrilled with that situation.  Any normal person with a car of our caliber would be extremely upset.  In our opinion we were treated with the utmost un-sportsmanship like conduct.
At one of our last tech inspections at the prompting of an SCTA official the head car tech produced an artificial insemination glove that a vet uses to stick up an animals ass.  Not only did he head car instructor have it in his pocket, but another official prompted him to flaunt it in front of us.  We have livestock and immediately new the implication.  On every occasion we were in tech, sometimes for hours at a time, not being inspected but nit-picked.  We never had one violation registered in our log book.  That?s not poor sportsmanship it is down right corrupt.
Due to time and space we could talk about several instances of egregious ethical violations.
Records being denied, alcohol being consumed while driving race vehicles, unexplained sped limit stickers and the list goes on.
P.S.  If we were such poor sports why were we requested to represent the SCTA at two of the biggest car shows in the United States. If the SCTA doesn?t go by its own rule book why do they have one.
If we can?t have some constructive critique to events that have happened it looks monopolistic and severely limiting.
There was a post replying to our first post and we felt it would be proper to respond.  Maybe  this will help answer Tallguy?s response.

You must not be telling the whole story. Does not add up. hours in tech? unexplained speed limit stickers?

So, what club did you join and not feel part of.

I see no class on your car or line up start.

what class did you run and what were your times and when.

Why would the inspectors have a glove like that.

For no reason I doubt it as I doubt your post.

We would like to address Wake Up #1 & #2 a note to the Moderator or Monitor.  Weare not trying to  damage Land speed Racing or motorsports.  We tried to handle the situation internally but we were banned in order to avoid this subject matter.  We were always told the best way to correct underhanded and shady behavior is to shed light on it.  Let the racers and race community judge the post.  Our concern for motorsports in general prompted this, we don?t want to see any other racer or race team subjected to this type of treatments.
Not to change the subject but in NASCAR?s recent legal issues , upper management nasty and demeaning email?s were exposed, now a major sponsor, the owner of Pro Bass has requested from NASCAR/Jim France for upper management regime change, because of the leak of info.  Surely you can see the similarities.
Thank you for your consideration.
P.S. This is the only forum we have ever posted on, we felt we had no other options.

When did this happen, and where was the event. Never heard of an inspection taking that long.

I would like to thank the monitors of the forum for allowing us to post.  We have not posted to hut or damage motor sports, quite the opposite, we entered a different race car in a non SCTA event by change, we ended up next to an el Mirage competitor or participant by chanace.

One of the cars supporting crew was an SCTA official that is referred to as Sheriff at El Mirage.  During pre run preparations they wanted us to lend them some needed materials, as always we were friendly and accommodated any that we could.

Through these interactions the SCTA official was communicating with us for well over 2 hours.  During those exchanges he thought he would impress us by telling us several instances where he and others were subjecting other racers and cars through the SCTA with shady and unethical behavior, not one but several different instances.  Always followed with a grin and a snicker like he thought it was cute.  My better half, which is my crew didn?t recognize him without his white shirt and orange hat, after what I had been through at El Mirage I immediately recognized him and still treated him with respect and kindness.  His stories confirmed that not only us but others were being treated with disdain.  We purposely did not identify ourselves in order for him to feel more comfortable with us.  I may be just a country boy and a shade  tree mechanic, but I was always told, you don?t have  to hang a bad actor and dishonest person, you just need to feed them enough rope and they will hang themselves.

After 2 hours of disgusting stories about their behavior towards unsuspecting racers which was a few minutes before our run, I asked him a question, you don?t know who we are do you, he had an expression of confusion, then I stated is this car we are getting ready to run was a black ?57 chevy and not a black Pontiac, you would know who we were. I got caught with my hand  in the cookie jar, expression said it all, at that moment I?m sure he was thinking about the stories he has been talking about and their shady behavior at El Mirage.  Where I come from, he wouldn?t be called the sheriff he would be called a crooked cop.

When two top SCTA officials the sheriff and the head car tech behave this way it?s horrible for motorsports and the SCTA.  It reminds me of another country saying, it only takes a couple of bad apples to spoil the whole bunch.

SCTA should follow NASCAR?s lead, like I stated in our previous post and eliminate these people from their positions.  In order to try and save motor sports reputations as well as the SCTA?s integrity.  Even someone that consistently got D- in school should be able to understand the theme of this post.

The officials  were caught doing unbecoming behavior and I was the one that was banned.  Look at the situation in Minnesota with the fraud, the whistleblowers were subjected to worse  treatment than the fraudsters.

gowing

You are not the only one with stories, you are just not going to hear them repeated here.
There seems to be an unwritten rule that you can't criticize the SCTA.

We have concluded that it's just club racing.  You are either part of their club or not.
