I?m new to asphalt land speed and ECTA I looked over the tire rules and before I go to deep down the rabbit hole of tires. What are most of the roadster style cars running for tires in the 17? rim size.
My car weighs in at around 1800lbs.

Thanks

Look at the rule book to see spec allowed. We use Goodyear Landspeed Slick?available from Carroll Shelby next day delivery.
Set records (A/BFRMR) at 258.679mph, 277.869 & 289.239mph Member of the Bonneville 200mph Club. Just trying to go fast!

This is posted in ECTA chat - so I'd say Hoosier R7. You could probably use a Goodyear front runner on the front if you were really serious, but as someone with a bit of road racing and limited land speed racing experience, I'd say buy four R7's and go do some road course track days, and let ECTA be onesy twosie that does not dictate car direction for a lotus 7.

Thank you for the replies.
I Run Falkland Azenis 660+ on my MX5 that I Autocross and track. It's a great stable tire. I really like this tire but it's only rated to 168 MPH W with A heat rating 200 tread wear tire.  ECTA has a tire waiver and seeing it is only a 2 kilometer run I'm told the W rating is fine for 200mph. If I do reach 200 in a 2 k run IT wont be sustained for very long.  The Texas mile requires a (Y) bracket tire.
The Micky now Good Year land speed tire would be an over kill but definitely  a safe option but I'm not sure its allowed in the ECTA street class
Hoosier R7 are W rated and aren't heat rated .I would stick with the Falkland 660+ before I would go to the R7.
Hoosier drag radials are good for 1/8 1/4 mile runs not sure how they will hold up in a 2k run .
The street classes I run require a 200 tread wear tire.
After researching Asphalt land speed racing tire requirements I determined a (y) bracket tire would be the best option but who makes a good (y) bracket tire ? Most track street rated tires are W rated.

Couple things. If the pic posted in the other thread is of the actual car, I doubt any land speed venue will give the lotus 7 a 200mph tech speed. Look at cage requirements for special construction, not 2010 or newer. If you dont think the car will actually go 200mph, just use a tire that'll be within your speed, possibly the falken 660s you already have. Regarding classing, other mod GT will have a significant aero advantage so its unlikely to set a lasting record. Youre barking up the wrong tree with SCTA unless you plan to go to tbe salt flats. Just run time only class if you just want to have fun making runs with the car you have. Get the car teched for the speed you think it'll go.

Remember this is a ECTA post.My car is under construction the car I posted is a buddy of mines car I think I mention that in my post. My car has the same front half but my cage is way different its built to the SCTA roadster cage rules from the rule book and the cockpit is shoulder high and it's a one seat cockpit car and it will get to 200mph eventually per the computer calculations. I most likely will run it in the ECTA street class because it is being built to compete in street legal class's. With this post I was looking for input on what tires are being used for one mile Asphalt racing in 200 mph range.

In the past when we ran on the runways back when ECTA was at Maxton and then Wilmington. Most of us ran Drag radials on the rear and the Front tires were Goodyear front runners exactly what NHRA fuel funny cars run. Plenty of 200 MPH runs were made on those tires plus many records set.

At Loring where we run now the rear tire is a Goodyear front runner 28 inch tall by 15 inch diameter top speed and record 229. Front tires are Top fuel 2904 18 inch diameter Goodyear front runners. We also run these same tires at Bonneville setting a 225 MPH record at mile three. Plus we hold a few more records between 205 all the way up to 219 running to mile 4 and the full five miles. Powered by a little old Ford Flathead V-8 burring gasoline.  :-D
