It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of longtime racer, starter, inspector, and dear friend, Ron Jolliffe. Ron was more than a competitor—he was a key figure of the Bonneville experience. Whether setting records that spanned both car and motorcycle, ensuring fairness and safety as an inspector, or launching countless racers down the salt as a starter, Ron gave so much of himself to this sport and to the people within it.
But it was his character that truly defined him. He had a gift for personalized encouragement, sending each driver off the line with exactly the words they needed. His storytelling could hold a crowd long after the racing was done, and his willingness to help anyone who needed it never wavered.
The records he set will stand as a testament to his talent, but they tell only part of his story. His friendship, mentorship, and unshakeable commitment to this community left a mark that no timing slip can measure.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Ron's family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Ron. The salt won't be the same without you.

I didn't know him but recognize his face. I had my camera set up at the starting line, wristband on and a few people were gathered around listening to my CB. Unknowingly a few had crossed over the line. He came over and replied "if only there was some sort of line...." Jokingly and we all had a good laugh, then backed up.
Pretty sure I heard it in one of my vids, I get a good chuckle.
