This is just a second reminder that, see Speedweek 2010 thread, your entry form will be $400 if postmarked by 05/15. Please use the linked form on the front page of this site for easier access.

Dan, I got the $400 saved and the form is filled out. All I have to do is send it in. We do have to send the medical form also, don't we??

Yup, the medical form goes with the entry form.  Make out a fresh one -- the one you sent in last time isn't good enough, I expect.  Don't do what I did -- in the column where they ask a bunch of questions that can be answered by checking "No" or "Yes".  That is, both Nancy and I checked the near column -- saying that yes, we had all of those problems or issues.  Then we had to change each one to mean "No, we don't".

Each year we try to remember to take a good photo or three of each vehicle -- so we've got 'em in the files.  We don't race the same bikes each time -- so it's either take them at the salt -- or pose the bike out behind the garage or something.  And then the program would rather have the photos without someone in them -- so we have to take photos that way as well as with us -- since we usually use a picture taken at the Salt for our Christmas card photo.  Now we're up to two needed shots, and of course -- we take a half dozen or a dozen of each just in case one isn't quite right.  It all ends up with us spending an hour or so out in back of the pits, with the mountains behind us, trying to make sure we've got good enough photos.

And we're not the only ones. . .  We'll see you all on the Salt, hey?

Just a silly question...

If a person pre registers for SW  2010 and for some reason is not able to make it,,, does that carry over as a credit towards the 2011 SW ? or do you loose it ?  ( I know there would not be a refund)... maybe no carryover either,,, hmm what about selling entry to another person ?

I am only asking,, as I would like to pre enter,,, and I am not "Certain" the car will be ready "enough" to meet my goals and expectations this year at SW.

Thanks

Charles, I am pretty sure there is no carry over/credit deal. You can sell it and recoupe your money. I bought a pre-entry last year for World Finals.

At the bottom of the entry form is the Refund/Buy-Back Policy.

"You may sell your entry to another participant if you cannot make the event.  The SCTA/BNI will not sell your entry for you.  The BNI will buy back your entry for $365.00 only at the salt and only if you apply there in person ($35.00 of the entry goes to the Course Prep Fund and is not refundable). If the event is cancelled by the SCTA/BNI because of weather of course condidtions prior to Aug. 14, entry fee will be refunded less $100.00 processing charge."

Charles, there's a pretty-well-known routine for selling your entry.  Let's say that you pre-enter and have the paperwork with you at home -- and then you decide that for whatever reason - you can't attend the meet.

Whatcha do is have someone who will be (or is) at the Salt be your helper.  You and he will look around for someone that wants to buy a pre-registration (so he saves money over having to buy it late), and when you find that racer, the person on the salt gets together with the racer.  Buyer of the entry hands over cash (or check, if YOU trust him), and the guy who's working with you writes a little note that says "I'm Charles and my pre-entry is for car number 608 (or is it 806?), and I'm selling it to racer X."  Then you have your helper sign it, I think, and that's it.

You don't need to mention the fact that money is changing hands, nor how much.

Then helper guy visits the registration trailer, either with or without racer X in tow, and explains to JoAnn or Warren or whomever is there, what's going on.  They make appropriate changes to their paperwork -- and it's done.  There's no deduction of the $35 (as there'd be if you simply cashed it in to SCTA at the Salt).  You can sell it for any price you care to -- less, if you're in a good mood, more if you think you can squeeze racer X a little, or the price you paid in the first place.

That's it.  Ask more questions and we'll try to answer them for you.

Which brings up another point that if you are foolish enough to show up at the salt without a preentry, rather than just going through tech and registration, inquire at the registration trailer if they have any preenrys for sale. Someone may well have turned in their entry and you can scoop it up. I did one year even though Jack went before me and paid the full boat. he didn't ask.
