it is better to live one day as a lion, than it is to live one thousand days as a lamb. or maybe it is better to burn out than fade away.

Looks like a drag chute...they don't work well!!! Too big and the lines are too short, I learned that lesson years ago!!!

That's what I said as well Joe. It's not a drag strip and I doubt the driver has a lot bof seat time under LSR racing conditions. Lessons learned.

Learn to mount it right. They work for us, driving into it -out of it- and 2 chutes accidentally at speeds higher than the Lambro  they work for drag cars and don't forget this was on pavement. Don't know if chute mounting had anything to do with this but it looked low, also did brakes have anything to do with it?
Maybe the driver will comment after he gets over the wild ride and the loss of a great car.

In the video it looks like the brake lights came on before the chute fully engaged.

Sounds like there is a fair amount of wind if you listen to the video.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

There was a VERY stiff crosswind- it had already knocked a couple cars off the track.  When he deployed his chute, the wind blew it to the left, pulling the tail of the car with it.  Once the car was crossed up, it all went downhill.  Out there near Goliad there is very little blockage to slow down the wind, and it can be a big deal.

So they run that event with no weather gathering info??

Maybe he sould have stopped like he did in the spring with no chute

This Gallardo was at the American La Mans race at Laguna Saca this year and was truly awesome. It was one of the most beautiful, jaw dropping machines I have ever seen.

Sorry  Here are the pics.

Off-roading that car I would hope he had four wheel drive.. :-o

That car is nearly a total loss..I am sure he will be back with that engine in another chassis.

Good luck to the team and thank goodness the driver is OK..he is still slower than Bill and Tom with nearly 3 + times the HP..
