Does anyone know if any more engine classes were added to Cast Iron Roadster??? C/CIR currently and I believe D and B were proposed.

Just expanding a class situation that was never needed and never created due to competitors crying they couldn't run competitively.  The rules sucked from the start.

I think it's time to open all the alphabet, fuel and blown classes for them.  Can't wait!  Just think . . . K/BF Compressed Air Roadsters!  No more crying.  Everyone gets at least a Participation Trophy if not a Record.

Okay, I'll take the bait.
Yes, "D" engines are now allowed in the AIR class. No other rule change to the class.
As far as a lack of participation in the AIR class goes, the C/AIR class had the most entries of any single class on the Salt in 2021. I believe it was Speedweek. As I recall, 9 Roadster's showed up excluding the class record holder.
Opinions being what they are, the SCTA membership and the board decided to allow "D" engines. You may not like it, but it is what it is.
Cheers

Out of the 10 entered, how many had a Small Block Chevy?

Give us a breakdown of how the Cads, Oldses, DeSotos, Mercurys, Dodges and Lincolns did.

So, did it come down to non-competitive SBCs that sought out a record?  If so, looking for a hard-to-find block and heads make the "new" class justified?

Stan,
With all due humility, we all pay the same entry fee.

I agree with Stan badly written rules, class was intended to bring old cars back if you want to run a sbc than run with the big boys.

Sad but very true IMO. If they wanted old Roadsters like I own to run in the class and be competitive, they needed to address the body rules also which was neglected. How can a car like mine in my avatar be competitive with a roadster built on the ground? It cannot. The rule was only an engine rule. The rule should have addressed the way roadsters looked back in the day, if it was really intended to bring cars like I own back to the race course. JMO.

Stan, it is what it is. Your "K" engine class will be allowed when someone finds an old 221" Ford motor, puts a 302 crankshaft in it and runs it on one cylinder, after they lobby the SCTA for years and get enough votes. That is how it works and Ron Benham (with all due respect) was a master at doing it. JMO.

The C class that they had covered all displacements already.  The B and D engines were legal 'til they entered Impound, and that was not going to happen.

Yes, we all paid the same entry fee.  We could all get timing slips.  If you build a car that doesn't fit in a specific engine size and category, you shouldn't have to have a rule change to satisfy you.  What do you think you've got -- a motorcycle?

I'm not sure of the breakdown but it wasn't all SBC powered Roadster's that were entered. Besides the SBC, there was an MEL, a Clevor and I believe a destroked BBC amongst the mix. But you're right that the class at Bonneville is currently dominated by a mouse motor. A side note that the class record at El mirage is held by the aforementioned Clevor powered Roadster.

#62 Roadster is an all Iron 351 Cleveland... Cleveland 4V heads & a 1972 Cleveland block. A Windsor Block would not be legal.

Sorry Chris. I thought your engine was a Clevor. I feel shame.

LOL! Yeap run a C-4 3 speed and a 9". Not real sure what I have to do compete with The Disorderly Conduct Roadster at Bonneville. Man's car is flying!!
I hear there should be some new C/AIR cars coming soon, maybe they can give Dominic's Roadster a run... Challenges... Love it!
