Slim - I'm sorry Jim Lattin was angry with you. I can't defend his attitude or his choices, although I think the salt racers benefit from his leadership.

I watched the livestream again today, and I was glad to have it. Amazed at all the whiners in the live chat. It's free, so WTF? Saw some great cars leave the line, sounds like the salt was nice and hard with many records set, and more ready to be set first thing Monday morning.

No complaints from me here in Wichita.

Well Slim,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you should have told them to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,excuse the pun,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"to go pound salt,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,er ,,,,i mean sand". I listened to the other stream also, but it just wasn't the same as listening to you and Ron. Good luck with your future endeavors,,,,,,whatever they might be..

Good morning everyone.   Since I'm not at Speed Week this year, I'm only able to listen/watch online.

I watched & listened to the LSR Live feed yesterday.  While it's good to have coverage of the long course, I can sometimes still hear Ron C's voice on the FM broadcast playing in the background (long course and short course).  I guess I don't understand what the status of the FM broadcast is.  Is the FM broadcast the "Official" SCTA-BNI broadcast?

Having a live stream of the official Speed Week broadcast would be very much appreciated.   The video & audio feed from LSR Live is nice, but less than half of the total runs get covered in this way.

Is the FM broadcast the official word, and if so, what would it take to get a livestream of that feed?

Thank you,

Steve.

So butt hurt is the reason they're depriving LSR fans of coverage? Great business model.

And this childish BS is hurting the club more than any negative post on a forum.

I appreciate the starting line video, It's better than nothing I guess,
But just watching people standing around looking at their cars has gotten old pretty quick.
I have it pulled up on YT right now but it's muted because they ain't saying anything.

With us now living in the digital age, I really believe that a lot more effort should be put into presenting this event over the airwaves.

So many people out there living their lives thru their computer and TV screens these days,
Gotta have content to catch their attention, Gotta have good content to keep it.

It's my opinion that the SCTA has done a very poor job in doing this!
Not just talking this year either.
Maybe it is just old people resistant to a changing world. I have no other idea why The SCTA wouldn't want to
present their premier event in the best possible light.

With all of the very skilled internet content creators out there,
Putting together a good program shouldn't be nearly as complicated as it was not too long ago.

Announcing the vehicles, and their times would be a good start.
maybe some stories and interviews during the slow periods.
some video of the cars on course, occasional drone shots.

Even with no experience, I'd think that if I had a year to plan broadcasting this event...

Slims broadcasts, while never perfect, were entertaining enough to keep us engaged.

On a positive note:
The salt appears to be in pretty nice shape. I'm looking forward to being there for the BMST.

Slim, you and I have had our differences but you did a great job streaming in the past. Thank you. As for the Club. There has been individuals in the past that could not wrap their heads around social media. It was told directly to me several years back. Some of those folks have changed their view and you see them posting online now. Mostly FB. This board and others has been a thorn in the side for some for a long time. I am not surprised.

I watch the video stream -- but I have it "MUTED" for obvious reasons.  Apparently "I'm not drunk enough" to appreciate his commentary.

If this is a quasi-official SCTA broadcast, why can't the SCTA sanctioned FM broadcast be piggy backed on top of the video stream itself?  Seems rather obvious but I'm not a politician.  Most "video people" I know aren't good commentators (or historians) and most good commentators aren't good with a video camera technical itself and patching numerous feeds together.  SCTA should allow the "best of both" to work together and create something truly memorable to broadcast (and for future enthusiasts to watch this as a historical archive for decades to come.)

So an SCTA official just told Mark, the mobile camera operator, not to be by the officials because the mic may pickup conversions that should not be made public.    Officials are all over the start line so hard not to film and not be by them.

So SSS is not the only one getting in trouble.

They obviously want new members but here is a chance to do jut that. Jon and Ron know the drivers, builders, records, etc. etc. and TALK. Dead air does no one any good. When the camera guy walks around for minutes at a time showing his feet it does no good. I know it's free but Jon and Ron were much better.

I'm telling you,  Some people can F**K up a free lunch.   Slim, Over the years you have done one hell of a great job.

Video announcer, Tim, made a statement that he is working on a way for teams to post updates about their teams.   He said that forums are dead, and social media does not work.   He maybe talking in some leaders ears.

I have learned over the years that when people say some system/process/product is dead, they are normally proven wrong when it is too late.

I don't drink so I can find Tim offensive.

After 3 days of watching the stream and listening - I have to say the drunks are the troublemakers on the live chat. Terrible amount of bitching and moaning, and just generally being idiots. Tim & Mark have thick hides, for sure. I am glad to have it because it didn't cost me a cent.

Tim did tell them to drink more so he would not appear to be as offensive.  I don't drink.

Most of the chat is people asking for times of cars that ran.   Again a sign that SCTA needs a live timing feed so they can get that information now that SSS and Ron's broadcast is not allowed.

SteveM

Is Ron's FM broadcast an officially sanctioned SCTA activity?  I can hear it in the background of the YT livestream.
