Russ,
For ideas go to the SCTA website and view the pictures from Bonneville and El Mirage of the modified roadsters.
Tom G.
that was a helpful suggestion in a way- lots of variations on headrest fairings & lack of any-however- #912 f/bfmr on 8-13-2006 pic sure looks  like a contoured setup to me?????do you do what you want till somebody squawks or what??
speed is expensive-how fast do you want to go?-to soon old & to late smart.

Russ,
If I get some time today I will take a picture of the fairing on my car and post it. Maybe it will help.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

Set a record and the protest cops arrive to scrutinize for legality. :?

I think Kelly would take exception to that for example.

Glen

Then why did they widen it??

Russ,
Here are a couple of pictures of the fairing on my modified roadster. I hope this helps.

Kelly ran it exactly as received from the previous owner/record holder.
It would seem the dimensions for a Roadster were not clearly listed anywhere with SCTA and only after quite a bit of research did they assemble the correct information.
The previous record stood and the one set by Kelly was disallowed.

Jack, as I understand it the dimensions to make it legal were taken off the old Black Widow I drove that is in Jim L's collection. It was original all around. I heard they made templates or took all of the measurement's off it.

That is correct.

Jack,

You forgot to mention that when Kelley & Prentice had the roadster apart they neglected to re-install the spacers which made the body legal. The previous owner was required to move the body out to be legal for class. I would think the SCTA did right in this situation. When the body was legal the record was good, when the body was too narrow the record was taken away.

Roadsters are subject to scrutiny from all angles.

He insisted the body was as received.
