rule book says:"headrest and parachute pack fairings are allowed as long as they are no larger than the headrest or parachute pack and do not extend past the rear of the body shell. NO CONTOURING OF THE FAIRING IS ALLOWED.--what do they mean be no contouring.???

Russ,
For ideas go to the SCTA website and view the pictures from Bonneville and El Mirage of the modified roadsters.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

It's ironic that the ROADSTER class allows more freedom with headrest fairings-check out the Burbank 282 mph car, for instance.

Many of the questions posted on this GREAT website could be answered by consulting the RULE BOOK(S) SCTA-BNI ECTA  DLRA, etc,-particularly you MOTORCYCLE racers. The SCTA also has category representatives- they are listed on the SCTA website and are VERY helpful.

Lets leave more space for genuine technical discussions and Jack D rants!

I was under the impression the rules for headrest fairings were the same for both roadsters and modified roadsters. Is this not the case?

If the rules made sense, if they were available through normal channels, and the rulers could explain them, things might be different.
The cars do pretty good but the MC tribe is really brutalized.

Mike would you mind e-mailing me the pictures you posted of the 528 car??  I don't have that car in my number/picture section yet.  Also is the other car you posted 505???  I could use that one also.

Thanks,

Sum

John N. read rule 4.CC.4 and look up roadsters 505 and 912.

chute fairing on pic 11-18-05-007{blue roadster} looks somewhat contoured even though it ends up square @ exit-somewhere I have pic of 32 with headrest &chute fairing combined side by side which also look somewhat contoured- seems confusing unless you can do anything you want as long as it ends up square @ exit.----another thing that seems strange to someone who has "O" experience w/ chutes- they seem to be mounted quite high- doesn't this have a tendency to lift front wheels when deployed? or is this to make sure it comes out :instead of sucking under the car {as in a last years post on new car @ Texas mile} its becoming evermore clear what Jack means when he says that they don't know what a  rdstr is yet. Looks like the best thing to do is forget fairing altogether to keep away the circling buzzards that were mentioned earlier. russ

Parachutes are most commonly anchored under the car at the rear axle, look closely at the pictures. Each application requires engineering, consult your provider as to size, tether length and mounting. That what they do, their professionals.
