......... "the question" a while back.

Well now I do feel stupid. I can't understand whether I have a step pan or floorboards in my roadster or what I had in my '32. And if I have a step pan in my roadster am I supposed to have a second layer of metal that Is a floor? Good thing I'm running the Vega this year. It has one single steel floor that came from GM, mostly. As far as it's orientation to the frame, what's the frame on a Vega?

mkilger

floorboards  "floorboards shell be mounted above the frame or in the stock location for the body style and YEAR of the vehicle"1929 ford roadsters  floors are above the frame.  step pan= "The transition at the rear of the step pan to the FLOORBOARD shall occur at 45- degree of steeper angle  to be exempted from the definiton of a belly pan"  The step pan cant go up to the floorboard if the floorboard  is at the bottom of the frame thats the way I have read that rule, but everyone  reads things differnt so be it. Thanks for everyones input about this confusing rule.

I will have to look at some of the other channeld roadsters and coups. I can see this on a high boy. I can see it on a MS car with a belly pan that is not made to support a drivers weight. But There is no way I can have a floor above the frame in my car. Never looked at Tones but I doubt it. Jacks streamliners have a flat bottom. Not to sure about another floor above that. Good thing I'm not running the roadster. If I was I would be very concerned. As it is, I have no dog in this fight or at all.

Rich, Iam not sure about any other classes,  I just talking fuel and gas roadsters and the definitions  of floorboards and step pans  and the way that (I)read them,   Wilson and Waters  now that a new post all by its self LOL  .

4-barrel Mike

5.B.3 Street Roadster says, "...The body may be channeled to the bottom of the frame.  Flooring in the car shall be stock, or above the top lip of the top frame rail, and comply with the definition of Floorboards contained in Section 4.P.

Section 4 is titled "Definitions" not "Technical Specifications & Requirements" (Section 3).

Seems to me that if Fuel-Gas Roadsters were supposed to comply with the DEFINITION of Floorboards (4.P), the class requirement would state so as it does for Street Roadsters.

But then again, I could be wrong (again).

I think I just do not get it and thank all who are trying to help but your talking to a post. The rule/Definition makes perfect sense to me if we are talking about a 29 on 32 rails highboy as Mike is building. But with a lowboy multi tube roadster like mine I just don't get it. I'll have to look at Russels roadster some time or Tones maybe Doug Roberson can explane it to me. Otherwise Lee was right.

Rich,

I thought I started a new topic on this but don't see it.

It seems pretty simple. 3.G says if the stock floor pan is modified you need to add a secondary floor. This does not need to be a complete floor, just a piece under the driver's feet with the intent to keep the feet above the bottom of the chassis in case the step pan or belly pan is torn away, 4.Z.

OK, I found the new topic I set up earlier today, SCTA rules section.

No responses, I am a great topic killer. Seems like I respond to topics on different message boards and the string stops.

Believe me DW, you're not the only one with that talent.

It's because you explain yourself so thoroughly and eloquently that we find ourselves enlightened and utterly speechless.
