Could the guy who runs the Evil Tweety 600cc Honda car put a CBR 1000 engine in it and run production or GT class {dont know how many seats it has} ?

The 600 sedans/coupes sat 4.  You'd have to use an S600 or S800 to go GT . . . .

Anyone else have any thoughts on this one? My clarification question to the rules email address has gone unanswered.

Just to be clear, my question is this:

In the GT class, does a Honda Motorcycle engine in a Honda car qualify as a legal engine swap? I understand that in the modified classes, motorcycle engine swaps are legal. My question is for the production class.

I suspect that the delay on the confirmation is because of a rule change request for 2009 that will specifically outlaw this type of swap.

As the rule is written for 2008 I believe it is legal but is not what was intended when the rule was written (M/C engine in car in production class). But if you are going to try it you better get going as in 2009 my money is on it being outlawed (IMO).

To be clear, I am only talking about M/C swaps in GT class cars running in the production class.

Take it for what it's worth.

That was my suspicion. Therefore I don't want to start building a car if they're about to change the rule.

I could see where a del Sol with a modified Honda bike motor could be a serious threat in the I/J/K GT class.

Raises another question - If the swap is permitted, would an Insight be eligible to compete in GT with the swap?

Insights are already running in GT. There was one at Speedweek this year.

Also Mod Sports. There is one on the East coast with a Lotus Twin Cam engine.

Hi, John -
I counted 7 cars running GT off of the database - Do you know which engine class it was running in?

I believe it was entered in G/GT. It was the #2010 Hasport entry.

I saw the car but do not see that he made a run. Did the car not pass tech or was there some problem?

The Munch Mammut bikes were phenominal machines for their time and are still sought out today from collectors, Jay Leno has one I am sure of and Dolans Brother also has one..serial number 007 if I recall...

I remember seeing one in the "flesh" at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francochamps in 1977. Considering I was on my MZ250cc at the time, it was pretty awe inspiring. They did have a Munch Mammoth "club" gathering recently, I think I read it in Classic Bike Magazine a few months ago.... Would love to own one someday.
